Well Rested

Phew...I finally got really solid sleep last night. Of course I woke up a few times (water, pee, rolling over) but each time I was able to fall back to sleep. I did my best NOT to go to sleep too early because I didn't want to wake up before my alarm. I turned off the TV at 9:00 and went right out. I was awoken by my alarm, dreaming I was driving to Andy Cohen's place in the Hamptons. I was supposed to be following him but I lost him so I had to text for his address. I didn't get there before I was rudely awakened.

My first day back to school was fine. I was really swamped with items on my to-do list and didn't think I'd manage to check them all off (a full yellow pad page full) but minus a two things, I did. And those two things were items that required another person to follow through so BAM! I'm back! Of course once that list was completed, I had to start another one because until May 24th (is that our last day?) there's always something to do.

Did I mention that I'm once again having a tooth issue? I think it's the same tooth that had the root canal. I don't know if it's a bite issue or what. It doesn't "hurt" and I can chew on that side but there's a sensitivity with it. Thankfully I'm scheduled for a cleaning next Thursday so I'll have Dr. Sherman check it out. I'll have to gobble up ibuprofen until then to try and stem the issue.

It's raining like a mofo! I mean POURING! And the wind is kicking up. I'll have to drive the back roads on my way in today because I'm sure the highway will be a disaster.

Mom update: Maggie and Anne said she slept for over 12 hours yesterday. I think after she had her MRI around 4:30, she came back and slept until (based on texts) 6:00 or 7:00 PM. She also got a bath yesterday and the nurse said that at first it was rough going but she calmed down and went back to sleep after it was finished. Here are some of the texts that were sent by Anne:

  • She is awake right now and refusing to eat anything. She took one bite of veggie soup and then repeatedly said, "No thank you." She pretended to take a drink of Boost and then said she hated it. Her speech has deteriorated significantly from yesterday.
  • She is eating imaginary food right now.
  • She's being very polite though.
  • Jailyn (the nurse) told her they are going to have to put a tube from her nose into her stomach. I think her brain thinks she's eating. She even does it in her sleep.
  • I asked her if she knows who Anne is and she said, "Of course." She then said that Anne is one of her children. She really isn't opening her eyes even when she talks.
  • Lisa (our cousin) brought French cakes and she ate some and drank some Boost.
  • Lisa asked mom how she was and mom said, "Blessed".
  • She seems much happier tonight.
The only new thing in her chart is a report from the social worker who talked to Maggie yesterday about the transition from the hospital to a facility. They seem to think she'll be there for 21 days or so which is ridiculous. There's no way (IMO) she will be going back home. The places given to Maggie to consider weren't' Memory Care places either. So there's some work to do there.

Dinner tonight: Cornbread chili bake with a salad. This is a favorite that I haven't made in a long while. It's also a WW recipe.

K - it's a disaster out there so I'd better get my ass in gear. Jim has a CT scan today...fingers crossed. He's been having continued congestion in his chest (he says) but I haven't noticed him coughing that much. Anyway - happy Tuesday. Later!
