Scout just came in from going potty and he said, "Damn Momma! That shit's cold out there!!!" He ain't wrong. I'll try to get him out for a little walk today, just to get him out, but he can't stand it for long. I took him for about a mile yesterday and had to pick him up and carry him for a minute because he got snow between his toes. I bought him a cute little coat to wear but that doesn't help his sweet little paws. I also bought Boo one but he's reluctant to wear it. Every time Jim puts it on him he says, "I look stupid!" He doesn't. He looks cute as a button. You'd think he'd like it because he loves getting under blankets and sitting in front of the fire and being warm. Oh well.
The weekend was good and pretty boring. We hung out here at the house most of the time. Doug and Lauren came over on Saturday for cards and other games. We've been playing a lot of Rummikub lately. It's a lot of fun but takes a lot of thinking. Which means that if you are in your cups, you may not do as well. I was NOT in my cups this weekend so did well. Sunday we went to Shooters but that was it. It was too cold to do much of anything. I made shrimp alfredo with peas for dinner last night because that's what Jim requested. It's was delicious!Today our plans are to do a little cleaning and watch football at 4:30. I've already done some yoga and will get on the elliptical after this. I have a meeting with the financial guy at 11:00 via Google Meet. I'll be interested to see what kind of thoughts he has about what to do with my money. It makes me nervous and anxious thinking about money. I don't know why. I'll be a lot happier once Jim's back to work.
Dinner tonight: I'm making pot roast and I can't wait. I loves me some pot roast and it's been a LONG time since I've made it.
Mom update: She's doing really well. Trip was there on Friday with Maggie when she was transferred to the rehab place. They were pleasantly surprised with how nice the place is. Mom has a huge room with a large bathroom and a nice view out her window. The staff is apparently very nice and attentive. Maggie and Trip said the place is really clean and the staff has talked to them about how good the food is. Considering mom hardly eats, this is a major plus. Tom and Karen (my cousins) drove up for the day on Saturday; Anne went up yesterday. Mom was assessed for OT yesterday and will be assessed for PT today. She'll also start speech therapy. Anne took her around the facility to see what's what and she enjoyed that. They have activities and things there but Mom, as she herself will say, isn't a "joiner". Hopefully she'll get a little more gumption and put herself out there so she can at least get out of her room.
We're not sure how long she'll be there and what the future for her looks like. If she can get strong and build up her stamina, maybe she could get home but that depends a lot on mom. She needs to push herself and eat...more than a nibble and more than just a Boost. This first week there will be very telling.
Okay well, time to get a move on. Happy Monday! Later!
