A Gorgeous Day

It's gearing up to be a beautiful day today. The lake is like glass and there's not a cloud in the sky. Hopefully it stays like this.

I slept only okay last night. I went to sleep relatively early but then woke up around 4:30 and started thinking about my stupid job starting back up and then I couldn't get to sleep. I laid in bed until about 6:30, got up, drank some coffee, did the Wordle and went to work out. I'm now sitting in my favorite spot drinking a mimosa.

Yesterday ended up being a lovely day. Most everyone went on the boat but Maggie and I stayed around here and went to the Crew's Nest because the bug people were coming to spray. We came home around 3:30 and just chilled out. Before dinner Charlie took all of us (well, the adults...the girls were napping/showering) on a lovely pre-dinner boat ride. We went around Rattlesnake then Green before tooling around in the harbor and docking. It was gorgeous. Dinner was burgers, corn and crispy crowns. I actually managed to stay up to watch the sunset but I didn't make it much past that.

Not sure what we have on tap for today but I'm guessing we might go out on the boat. Maggie said dinner tonight is "Taco Tuesday" which makes me happy...loves me some tacos.

And that's about all I've got. I'm going to go make a piece of toast and look at the lake. Happy Tuesday. Later!

Creatine Hasn't Kicked In Yet

I know you hadn't expected I'd post today but alas, I'm waiting around for my sister to get her shit together so while I do that, might as well keep everyone updated on my shit.

As per usual, I did not sleep great last night. Essentially I've been up since about 2:30. Why? Because I started thinking about school shit and then couldn't get to sleep. Specifically, Greg (who thought he'd still be causing me problems?! Yeah, me too.). Though he's no longer on my caseload I'll still be teaching him in Language Arts and Government. Checking my class lists yesterday, I saw he was also put in my Guided Intervention. Originally I was all like, Okay...I'll deal but then as I slept and woke up thinking about it I thought Naw! That ain't happening! So, this morning at 4:30 when I got out of bed, I made coffee, fed the boys and then emailed his counselor and said, "Nope!" I suggested that he be put into the male sped teachers 1st period GI class because the only other option is Lisa and she has him in Transition. Fingers crossed I don't get any blowback from this. (I did cc the admin who is well versed in Greg who will hopefully throw me a bone.)

So yeah, I got off okay this morning although there was a small snafu. As I drove toward the highway and prepared for my drive I suddenly had an "OH FUCK" moment. I forgot my GD swim bag which had all my shoes and bathing suits in it. DAMMIT!!! It added about 10 minutes to my drive but that was okay...I still caught the 9:30.

Plans today: So far I've gotten my bed made, unpacked and helped Eva get the wave runner going (it had a shitload of seaweed in the intake so I had to put it on the davit). I'm now waiting for Maggie to give me the go ahead so we can head to the pool. The others here (Charlie, Eva, Brooklyn and the Rabers) will be going on the boat (if the lake isn't too rough). The bug sprayer people are coming so Maggie and I need to be nearby so we can run home when they let us know they're on the way.

Dinner tonight: Burgers, corn and crispy crowns.

And that's all I've got. Time to get to the pool and soak up some rays. Happy Monday! Later!

Errands, Jobs Then Sun

I wanted to get started early but I woke up in the middle of the night and tossed and turned. When I finally fell asleep I slept hard and didn't wake back up until 6:30. I'm not really mad about it because what else do I have to do?

The answer to that question is the following: After I finish here, I'll walk my sweet little Scoutie (sarcasm...he was a bad little turkey last night...more on that later), do some yoga, mow the backyard and then head to Aldi. Depending when all that is finished, I might come home and do some cleaning but we'll see. I could wait until tomorrow to clean but I feel like that isn't fair to Jimmy. He shouldn't have to clean when he's worked all week and I haven't. Anyway, after all that, if it's nice, which it's supposed to be, I'll lay in the hot tub. Which, by the way, is a lovely 90 degrees. This is almost the perfect temp for this time of year even though it sounds like it's too warm. It really is refreshing.

Ooh, Shaboozey is on The Today Show today! I really do like him!

So Scoutie! I don't know what his issue is lately but he's taken on Boo's mentality when he sees other dogs outside his window. He never used to be that bad but last night, I had to douse him with the squirt bottle because he wouldn't shut his stupid fucking trap. Boo sees the squirt bottle and that's usually it for him. Scout? He sees it, runs from me to another window and continues his bullshit. I should have just dumped the bottle of water on him. And then afterward he wants to make it up to me and get some loving but he's soaking wet and I'm all like, "Beat it jerk!"

I decided to start taking Creatine to see if it does anything for me. It's supposed to be great for muscle growth, energy, recovery, healthy aging and brain function. I need all of that. I researched and bought the highest rated product (at right). It has a ton of different flavors which is nice. They say you should get between 3 and 5 grams per day (I'm taking 3) and it takes a few weeks to build up in your system. I'll let you know what I think.

All is well with my car. It's fixed and they ordered a new radio for me. That should come in, hopefully, within a week or so and then I'll get it installed which is all covered.

Dinner tonight: I'll do mini sausage patties, marinated cucumbers and maybe corn or French fries.

Weekend plans: It's going to be pretty yucky so we'll probably just hang and go out to lunch on Saturday. I'm leaving Monday, by the way, to head back to PIB so I won't post but I will take my computer to post while there (back Thursday).

I did get some school work done and may try and get more done this weekend. We'll see. Schedules are still being worked on but so far they look okay.

K - time to get out there and get Scout walked. Happy Friday. Happy weekend. Later!

Car Issues

Yes, I know! I'm late on the post. Blame my car. I was driving to the ferry yesterday when my TPMS light came on (tire pressure monitoring system). I checked my tires pressure and they were all where they should be. This used to happen with my Hyundai but with that car it was connected with the Bluetooth. Interestingly, as I was driving, I got a text and when I listened through the car, it was breaking up and I thought, Maybe this is similar to what used to happen with my Sante Fe. So when I got to the ferry I looked it up and it said that Subaru's TPMS is NOT connected to the Bluetooth. I then called Jim who called Subaru and they told him it was that the valve battery was failing. He made an appointment for me and here we are. If it is that, I'll have to pay out about $700. Oh well...what're you going to do. Oh, and my radio is also glitching so they're going to check on that. Most likely my radio is going and they'll have to order me a new one. Thankfully that i s covered by warranty.

Anyway, yesterday, I caught the 7:30 ferry and was home before noon (11:23 to be exact). After unpacking and giving the dogs 3 days worth of hugs and kisses, I got on the elliptical, walked Scout, and then watched TV. Jim got home around 5:00 and we had some hamburgers for dinner. I was exhausted and went up to bed around 8:00.

BTW - I'm sitting here at Subaru typing this and a brand spanking new Outback is sitting in the showroom and it's gorgeous! It's a lot bigger than mine and I want it. However, that's not going to happen anytime soon. I plan on driving my Outback into the ground. I mean, it doesn't even have 90k miles yet and I should be able to get at least 200,000 out of it. We'll see...knock on wood.

Plans for today: After I finish here (posting) I'll do some school work. Schedules might be ready so I'll check on that. Once I get home, it'll probably be around 11:00 so I'll swim, lunch and then lay in the sun. It's a beautiful day! Dinner tonight will be cheesy Italian sausage tortellini bake. Something easy (dump and go).

And that's about all I've got. I only have about 51% battery on my computer and I can't find an outlet anywhere in this customer waiting area so I'd better get cracking on my school work. Happy Thursday! Later!

Confusion

It's been a rough morning so far and it's only 7:21. Mom is having lots of confusion and truthfully, it started yesterday. While we were on our walk yesterday, she called Maggie and voiced how worried she was about me because she thought I wasn't happy. Maggie said, "Well, she's right here next to me and is fine." I talked to her and reassured her that I am happy and life is good. She was very weepy but as I talked to her she said she was feeling much better. Charlie went over later and had the idea for Maggie and I to go out to the Ring camera so Mom could see us and talk to us. That seemed to make her happy.

And then last night, apparently around 10:00 (I was asleep) Mom called Maggie and was confused about where she was and where Richard was. Maggie reminded her of the fact that she is in Columbus and that Richard had passed. She got her to relax a bit but of course by that point, Maggie was in high stress mode and didn't sleep well.

Fast forward to this morning when Mom called before 7:00 with the same confusion about being in Tennessee and asking where Richard was. Maggie gave her some direction (go get in your chair, get a protein drink, wake up a bit and try to look at your surroundings to orient yourself) and then asked me to call her. I did and weirdly, the first thing she said to me (aside from the Richard thing) was that her right breast was swollen and hurt. This was the first time she'd made mention of that to anyone. She never said anything about that to Maggie which is weird. She also asked about the dog (I told her "Mom, you don't have a dog, just your two kitties.") and then told me that at some point she thought she was going to need to go to the hospital today. UGH!

I sent a text to Anne who called her and Mom voiced the same things to her that she had with me.

The breast thing worries me a bit because Mom has some OLD!!! implants (from the 70s) and who knows what shape those things are in. If something has happened where it's leaking could that be a source for her swollenness (if that's actually happening) and confusion? I mean, Mom is 88 and she's surely got some dementia settling in but what if there's something else.

It's getting to a point where Mom's confusion seems to be more prevalent than her lucidity and that makes it hard for her to be able to stay in her condo, living alone. Not to mention the stress all this puts on Maggie. I think we need to have some frank discussions about what the next step needs to be.

In other news, today is our last day here at the Bay and it's pretty cloudy. We got some storms overnight (I slept through them) and it's cooled things down a bit and lightened up the humidity. I don't think it'll be a pool day so plans are to relax, go to a few shops, nap, go to the Goat for dinner and chill. We'll most likely be on the road pretty early tomorrow so I won't be posting...don't get your panties in a wad!

K - I'm going to go sip a mimosa and have a piece of toast. Happy Tuesday! (Damn! It's only Tuesday! Feels like Thursday.) Later!

My Happy Place

Yesterday's trip to the Bay was, thankfully, uneventful and easy. I did NOT get stuck for 3 hours in the contra lane in Dayton which is always a plus. Maggie and I both arrived almost simultaneously at the Miller around 9:30 and were able to get on the 10:00. It was pretty cloudy upon our arrival but once we unpacked, made the bed and had a mimosa, the skies were clearing up and we headed to the pool. It ended up being a gorgeous day.

After leaving the pool, we were both tired (I'd basically been awake since 2:30 although I did doze a bit until my alarm went off at 5:00) so we took a nap. From there we hung out until it was time for dinner. We headed to The Forge, ate at the bar and were back home probably by 7:30. (Maggie ordered their chicken sandwich and I got the smash burger. We split them and each had a little of the others.) We started to watch a new Netflix movie but it was awful so we turned it off, chatted for a bit then hit the hay.

Plans for the day: I was going to go workout at the gym but I'm not feeling it. Instead, I'll go with Maggie when she walks Birdie. Maybe we'll go around the monument? Who knows? We can do what we want. After our walk, I'm sure there will be a celebratory/reward mimosa in our future. Beyond all that the day is wide open. It's pretty overcast and dreary looking here and muggy as hell (I sure wish the wind would kick up...there's not a leaf moving on the trees) but it doesn't look like it's going to rain until maybe tonight but I really don't care. If it's sunny we may go to the pool. If it isn't we may go shopping...have lunch...play games.

Dinner tonight: I'm not sure what we'll have but probably the taquitos Maggie brought up.

And that's all I've got. I'm just waiting for Maggie to get her shit together so we can walk Birdie. Happy Monday! Later!

Home Improvements

Well, looks like we're going to be getting a new roof! Thankfully, the guy who came yesterday agreed with me (of course I was right) that we don't need new gutters. (Why does Jim think he knows anything?! JK) I'm thankful that we don't have to shell out that money as well.

Anyway, of the three quotes we've gotten previously for the roof, this is the first person who actually got on our roof to check things out. That's pretty telling, don't you think? I mean, I know that anymore they can get a feel (a FEEL!) for what's needed using satellite but it's just not as thorough and I'm sure that the things Scott uncovered yesterday wouldn't have been part of our quote. I'm very happy with how this company attended to my questions etc. but more than that, knowing that Trip has been so happy with them makes it easier to write such a large check. Oh, and we'll be replacing the skylight in the kitchen as well. This has been much needed for a while.

Plans today: After I finish here I'll email Scott to get the ball rolling for the roof. I'll then get my shit together and head to Costco. I've already walked Scout but don't want to do yoga until I get home because I want to get my errands out of the way. I'll do a bit of cleaning as well and start pulling stuff together for my trip to PIB (leaving Sunday, home Wednesday). Beyond that, if it's nice I'll get in the spa and soak up some rays.

Weekend Plans: We have no plans tonight but I'm guessing we might have a cocktail or two with neighbors. Dinner will be leftovers. Tomorrow I need to mow the front lawn and then go to Aldi. I'll make a chili cornbread bake for dinner tomorrow which will give Jim some leftovers for when I'm away.

And that's all I've got. Best to get my shit together so I can get out and back quickly. Happy Friday! Happy weekend! Later! (I'll take my computer with me so I'll post on Monday.)

New Pillows

Sorry I'm late on my post. I woke up a bit later than usual (didn't sleep well last night) and then piddled around which left Scout very insistent that he walk before I post. Then, once home I decided to get my yoga in before I made my smoothie and now here we are.

Maggie just sent me a message with a link to the story from last night about a fatal shooting at Mr. Ed's on PIB. (Mr. Ed's is a bar that I've been to maybe 2 times and during the day and only because they used to have a MegaTouch on their bar. It's a pretty sketchy place IMO and I'm not surprised there was a shooting.) Apparently the man, a 39-year-old, died from his injuries. They have one person in custody. And this is why I don't venture downtown to the bars at night/ever. Fucking assholes. Guns and alcohol don't mix people.

In other, more mundane news, I got new pillows for my bed. They are cooling pillows and are awesome. I didn't tell Jim about his and so when I got up this morning and asked how he liked his new pillow he said, "Oh man. It was awesome." The description is: Cooling Pillows, Shredded Memory Foam Pillows, Soft Yet Supportive Pillow for Sleeping, Cool Pillow for Hot Sleepers, Adjustable Firm Pillow for Side, Back, Stomach Sleepers. The "cool" side is really cool and feels amazing on my head. So happy.

Oh, my doctor's appointment: The PA (remember my doc is on leave for a month so I met with the physician's assistant) told me that I'm doing everything perfectly and all my stats/vitals etc. look great. My cholesterol is awesome (they don't really look at total cholesterol and instead base things on HDL v. LDL. My good cholesterol is so high/good that I'm in great shape. Thanks Dad! (He always had great cholesterol and genetics are a huge part of that.) She's happy with my diet and pleased that I'm so regimented in my fiber intake. I told her I'd started supplementing my protein and she said that was a good thing. I told her about the GLP and she wasn't concerned in anyway but did ask how long I thought I'd stay on it. I told her I had already started reducing my dose and most likely when I'm done with the vials I have, I'll probably stop. That might not be until October or so. She did tell me I need to get a colonoscopy and so I'll have to schedule that. Glad that all worked out well.

After my post yesterday where I mentioned my roof quote etc. Trip sent me a text about the company he's used and how happy he is with them. He gave me the number and told me to say I'm his sister. We've got a guy coming out today to check things out and get us a quote for roof and gutters. Fingers crossed it's a better quote than previous once.

The roof guy will come out at 1:00 and until then I'll most likely bike ride (it's so lovely out there...not even 60 degrees yet), do some laundry, and have lunch. Before that I'll finish my smoothie and do a crossword outside. Dinner tonight: I'm going to do something simple that won't make leftovers. Probably mahi mahi and broccoli with rice.

And that's all I've got. Happy Thursday! Later!

Phew!

There were at least three tornadoes in the area from the weather that went through yesterday around 3:00 but thankfully, nothing happened near me. The sirens did go off in Clermont county but it was for very rural areas in the southern part. Thank the baby Jesus.

We got a roof and gutter estimate which gave me heart palpitations. We can afford it but that large number just makes me gasp a bit. The biggest need is a new roof (ours is about 14 years old) so we might just go with that. The gutter estimate seems very inflated and Jim and I are arguing about the need. I'd prefer to get another estimate.

I dreamt of my Aunt Sister last night (mom's sister who she called sister which is why she was Aunt "Sister" to us). I can't really remember what my dream entailed, just that she was there.

Dinner tonight: I think we'll do taco bowls tonight. I have some taco meat in the freezer that I'll pull. I need to stop at the grocery to pick up a few items on the way home from the doctor. I need lettuce but am nervous about it. Interestingly my Kroger has a bunch of Taylor Farms products (the company that has the tainted lettuce) that they've discounted and the discount sticker has been placed right over the name of the company so you can't see who's it is. That's some shady shit! (My neighbor posted a pic on FB.)

Looks like it'll just be me and Maggie at PIB next week. Eva isn't interested in hanging with us old hags I guess. We'll go Sunday and most likely come home Wednesday. Maggie and family will head back up either Friday or Saturday so she'll need to get home to prep. I'll probably go up at some point during their time...just not sure when.

And that's all I've got. Sorry so short but I need to get out and walk Scout quickly so I can shower and get to my doctor's appointment. Happy Wednesday. Later!

A Limerick

I was looking at my Facebook memories and 12 years ago I posted a limerick from Dad. Here's the post:

There once was a guy named Dave
Who kept a dead whore in his cave
I'll have to admit
It was a bit of a shit
But think of all the money he saved.

At first he couldn't remember the middle lines so I improvised with:
He stepped on a stick
And off fell his dick

I love it when I get memories like these. Dad loved him a limerick and the dirtier the better.

I woke up at 5:30 and Jim was already up and at 'em. I cuddled with Scout for a bit before finally getting up around 6:00 but by then, Jim was walking Boo (good boy Jim). When he got back, I said, "What are you doing up so early?" He said, "I figured I'd try to get to work on time today." Huh, good idea.

Yesterday I went and got my blood drawn which was quick and painless. Although, I was left with a slight bruise. The phlebotomist didn't hurt me, I just think that this is what aging does. Oh well. After I did that I came home, made a smoothie, did a crossword and then thought, Maybe I should get the backyard mowed. So I did and you'll be happy to hear that I didn't struggle at all through it. (Though my left bicep is sore from weed whacking.) I'm chalking it up to the lower heat and humidity. After I did that, I took a little break and was cooling down on my bed, crushing some candy when the dogs started barking their heads off (I typed barfing at first...thank God they weren't barfing their heads off). I sat up and looked out the window and saw some dude in a truck in my driveway. I scrambled to get dressed (I'd shed my sweaty clothes after mowing) and ran down to answer door. Apparently Jim had called another company about our room and he just showed up. I'm fine with that and hopefully we'll get a reasonable quote for the fix.

Once he was gone, I ate lunch and laid in the spa for about an hour or so, did some swimming too and then chilled out until it was time to do dinner prep.

Plans for today: It's going to be a bit of a weather impact day so after this I'll try to beat any rain and get Scout walked. I need to do some yoga and then I'll probably get on the elliptical. I have no idea what I'm going to make for dinner but maybe a casserole of some sort (chicken divan?).

The results of my labs were pretty good. My thyroid was in the normal range as was the test that evaluates liver function, kidney health, fluid balance, and blood sugar (although my glucose was 101 but that's hardly "high"). My CBC (which determines any possible infections etc.) were normal. My lipids, however, well, I wasn't sure what any of it meant so I entered the levels recorded into a lipid panel calculator and it said:

Interpretation:

  • Risk Ratio: Normal
  • Total Cholesterol: Borderline High
  • HDL Cholesterol: High
  • LDL Cholesterol: Near Optimal
  • Triglycerides: Normal
The "borderline high" total is not great but the HDL is the "good" cholesterol so that being high is okay. I go to the doc tomorrow so we'll see what she says.

And that's all I've got. Time to get Scoutie out there and walked. Fingers crossed the storms today aren't too strong. Happy Tuesday. Later!

Get-Together

This week is supposed to bring us cooler weather after Tuesday mornings storms which is exciting. Maybe I can get my hot tub to cool a bit. Yesterday was actually quite lovely, which I hadn't expected. We had a get-together with the neighbors, a sort of farewell to the Carls, who live across the street, and it was NOT awful. I was worried that the heat and humidity would make it miserable but there was a nice breeze and we ended up setting up in our driveway in order to be sheltered by the shade, rather than the circle where the sun was relentless.

The get-together was fun. Much of it was spent watching the World Cup because we've got lots of soccer fans. Thus dinner was a little later than we'd planned. We each made a side dish or dessert and then grilled our own proteins. I made my crack green beans and not to brag or anything but everyone loved them. (I mean, they're delicious!) I ended up doing two separate batches, one without the bacon and they both were scraped clean. We also had a squash casserole, baked beans and hash brown casserole. Oh, and Cari next door made slushies (with a bump for the adults) using her new Ninja machine. I might need to get one of those!

BTW - I really didn't care about the World Cup but I was rooting for Argentina. Everyone else was rooting for Spain. I just like Messi and really don't know who anyone else is. That being said, I'm okay with Spain taking the cup since Argentina won it last time. I didn't like how people bashed Messi with things that seemed made up and wrong. One person even said, "Messi is overrated." I turned to her and said, "Yeah, he's really not." She backtracked.

The group broke apart around 8:00 but we, along with the Nunns and the neighbor down the hill who has separated from his wife came up for a quick drink. That's a whole interesting thing in itself. Apparently his wife and three daughters went on vacation but I can tell you it was a very spontaneous one. He seemed very unclear on where exactly they were going. He said they drove down to Atlanta and will then go down to "maybe Orlando", he thinks?  I'm guessing they left so he could pack his shit and move out. I also think it was very impromptu because he stated he was supposed to go on a work trip to Atlanta today but he's "just not feeling it" but he would decided today if he'd drive down or not. I then said, "What about the dogs?" (They have two.) He answered with, "Oh, yeah, and then there's that." Weird.

Plans today: After I finish here I'll walk Scout. I'll then get dressed and get labs done. I have a doctor's appointment Wednesday and need to have them done prior. Interestingly, I got a call last week from the office telling me that my doctor has to suddenly take a month off and my appointment either has to be rescheduled or I could just meet with the PA. I chose to meet with the PA since it's just a physical. This is the second time in a row my doc has had to cancel with me. Hmm...Anyway, after that, I'll probably swim and then who knows?

Dinner tonight: I have some Brussel sprouts I need to use so I'll probably do the sweet chili chicken and Brussel sprout stir fry in my air fryer. It's a good one.

And that's about all I've got. Time to get this Monday going. (This time next week I'll be in PIB!!!) Later!

That Time Of Year

It's that time of year where my grass is just crunchy and ugly and in need of a few downpours. Thankfully (fingers crossed) today's weather is calling for that. Since I've been in my spa the last several days enjoying the sun, I'm okay with a bit of indoor time. Plus the humidity is so oppressive AC is really the only way to go.

I did manage to take a nice bike ride yesterday but getting off my bike I was soaked. Next week should provide for some relief from this thick, hot air and I can't wait.

I just did a search for new releases to add to my queue on different streaming services and saw that Hulu just acquired the Twilight Series!!! and DIRTY DANCING!!! It's been way too long since I and more importantly Jim has seen Baby and Johnny and I think I know what we'll be doing tonight! Excited!

I talked to mom yesterday and she sounded great. She said she'd been hanging out inside since it was so hot but had watered her flowers and would do it again in the evening before she went to bed. She was clear and didn't have any issues with finding her words. That was around 2:00. Anne then talked to her a little later and said she was clear and didn't have issues with her words. However, she said mom was exhausted because she'd been out with friends and it had worn her out. (That didn't happen.) She said she was getting ready to go to bed. Hey, at least she's keeping "busy". I'll call her again today to make sure she's still doing well.

Dinner tonight: I think I'll grill something pulled from my freezer (pre-marinated chicken?) and then use up my corn and make some green beans.

And that's about all I've got. Scout's getting antsy and pawing at me. Happy Friday. Happy weekend. Later!

Revelation!

Yesterday, as I labored through mowing the front yard (had to take 1 rest for water), I realized that one thing that I should probably be supplementing in my diet is protein. I mean, I eat and I eat well. Typically I have 2 meals a day which is not any different from before GLP though my portion size has reduced a bit. However, when I looked up how much protein I should be getting, I'm guessing I'm not getting enough. (With my weight I should be getting between 72 and 86 grams.) I often make a smoothie in the morning and add peanut butter and my vital proteins helps but I think I still need to supplement beyond that. So, yesterday I went on Amazon and purchased a couple containers (strawberry and vanilla peanut butter) and I'm hoping it helps with my stamina and then possibly building back my butt. I'm happy with my arms and legs in terms of muscle tone but my butt needs a boost. Stay tuned.

I slept like doo doo last night and I'm not sure why. I didn't have anything on my mind that was causing me worry. I wasn't hot. My shoulder was okay - not giving me too many fits. So what was it? I woke up around 3:00 and was tempted to just get up and read my book but decided to just lay there until one of the dogs got up. In the end, around 5:30, Scout jumped up on the bed to look out the window, hoping to see a deer. When he started to whine a bit (there was no deer there) I decided to start my day. At least I don't have much on my agenda.

Speaking of which, today the only thing I need to do is go to Kroger. I went to Aldi yesterday but they didn't have water chestnuts and I'm making chicken salad for dinner and my curry chicken salad just isn't the same without them. Other than that and my normal stuff...I've got nothing. I'll probably spend some time in the spa, maybe clean a bit and then just chill. I might take a bike ride before it gets to awful out there.

The master schedule came out yesterday for the school year and thankfully, no one fucked with the schedule we'd set for the sped department. This means that my schedule this coming year will be exactly what it was last. In other words, I have 5th bell plan which is awesome! Additionally, I start and end my day with Guided Intervention (sped study hall). I hate having to teach an academic 7th bell so this is, again, awesome.

Oh, get this! As you may remember, the Egberts flew out yesterday to visit with Charlie's brother Tom and his wife in Alabama. Their flight was taking off around 5:00. Eva was bringing along a friend. Around 3:00, Maggie called me to say that Eva's friend backed out last minute. I mean was a fucking asshole. Maggie said her mom said she was "sick" but no one believes that. Eva was soooooo pissed and rightfully so. I mean, who backs out of a commitment like that 30 minutes before leaving for the airport. I'll be interested to see how Eva handles this. She's not afraid to cut someone out of her life.

And that's all I've got for today. I'll go walk Scoutie then stretch out this old lady body with some yoga. Happy Thursday. Later!

Horseshit!

I won't give anything away but that Wordle today was a bunch of bullshit. I got it but I'm not sure how. Ridiculous.

I don't know what's up with my belly but I had another bout of awful last night. Well, actually it hit me at 4:30 this morning and I'm hoping it's done. I'm not sure though so I'm trying to wait a few before walking Scout. I don't want to be away from home and suddenly need to shit my pants. That would suck. Sorry about the TMI.

BTW - I'm back home. It was a quick trip to Columbus and I was home by 10:00 yesterday morning. After walking Scout, all I did was hang at home, lay in the sun while spinning around in my spa and chilling. It was kind of lovely.

Of course today isn't going to be as lovely because I have to now the front yard. I dread it. I need to get my shit together so I'm not dying in the heat too but with my belly acting the fool, I dreading it even more.

Uh oh! Just saw a story about an exploding stomach bug spreading. Thankfully, I've not had any lettuce of late, which they believe is the cause.

Did I mention that my neighbors across the way have separated? This is the couple next door to Doug and Lauren who we often hang out with. They have three girls (1 off to college, another entering 10th and the youngest is 7th, I think) and I have a bad feeling that he did something bad. All I know is that he moved out and she is "devastated". I think they've been together since maybe high school or just after that. If it's something to do with extramarital antics, what the fuck!? People suck. Way to ruin lives. If that's not what it is, ugh!

Not sure what's for dinner tonight but I'm thinking curry chicken salad and corn. If I make that, I need to go to Aldi. We'll see how I feel after my mowing. I need to buy a riding mower. However, I can't do that unless I get a shed because I'd have nowhere to keep it.

Okay time to get a move on and walk Scout. Wish me luck on the mowing. Oh, and safe travels to the Egberts today who are headed south to the Alabama shore.

Happy Wednesday...later!

Time Crunch

I'm going to have to make this quick because I've got shit to do and places (a place) to be. I'm heading to Columbus today (home tomorrow) and still need to do some yoga, get Scout a decent walk and shower. (Jim promised he'd walk Boo). It's supposed to be a beautiful day so my drive should (knock on wood) be uneventful.

The weekend was good. Saturday was a big day out with the neighbors. We left here around 1:00 with Doug and Lauren. Their son Cohen drove us to Pins Mechanical in Mason prior to his shift at Old Navy. We played a couple games of duckpin, milled around the place playing video games; I played a few games of pinball and we drank a few beers. (I actually only had 2 because that's about my limit of beer anymore. It's just too filling.) Around 4:00 we headed out where we walked to Blaze Pizza, picked Cohen a pizza for his dinner, he then picked us up during his break and drove us to downtown Loveland. We had 5:30 reservations at Rodi and prior to that, we stopped for a drink at Cappy's and watched the first half of the England/Finland world cup game.

Dinner at Rodi was, as usual, delicious. We were all starving and shared a couple apps and then each got a pasta. I got their Bolognese. We got an Uber home around 7:30 and then Doug and Lauren came over for a couple Euchre games. At that point Doug was done and pretty much fell asleep at the table. I was in bed by 9:30. Unfortunately in the middle of the night, I got up sick, sick, sick. Thankfully I didn't throw up but it was a near thing. Once everything had passed (if you know what I mean) I was left with chills and finally fell asleep shivering in my bed.

I woke up Sunday (at 7:30, which if you know me is not usual) feeling so much better. However, other than walking Scout, I lazed about all day making sure I didn't overdo anything. I watched the Peacock series The Five Star Weekend with Jennifer Garner. (I'd read the book...pretty good...worth the watch.) We hung out on the deck for a couple pre-dinner cocktails with the Nunns. The kids (Grace and Alex) are living at home for a few weeks until their next housing situation is ready for move in on August 1st. That's going to be a packed house again and Lauren is in hog heaven. (She loves having all her "babies" home.)

No real plans today at Maggie's other than to hang at the pool and enjoy the weather. Maybe we'll go hang with mom later?

And that's all I've got. I've got to get going to stay on schedule. Happy Monday. Later!

Smoothie Perfection

Typically, in the summer I don't do a smoothie. It's my morning routine when in school and I share it with Jimmy. Recently, however, I've needed a little pick-me-up, something to give me energy so I can mow the lawn or what have you and so I've broken out the blender, once again. Now, during the school year, on Sundays, I put together 5 smoothie bags and freeze them...you know, to save time. They consist of a banana, spinach, blueberries, strawberries and a scoop of peanut butter. (I buy frozen berries.) I blend it all with almond milk. The problem with this prepared bag is that it's so frozen, it's often tough to blend. (During the school year, I pull the bag out to thaw when I get up in the morning.) With the slower days of summer, however, I don't need to prep bags. Instead, I just put everything together in the blender and, well, blend. Through a bit of trial and error, I've figured out the perfect layers to add the ingredients so that the blender does it's job without me having to stop, stir, and loosen up the bits that jam the blade. First, goes the almond milk, then the scoop of PB. Next is a handful of spinach, the strawberries, followed by blueberries scattered on top and last but not least, the banana. So good! (I know no one cares about this but that's the lazy life of me lately.)

Sorry about getting to my post later than usual again. I was afraid that if I didn't get the boys walked, we'd get rained out. I'll be happy tomorrow when Jim can take care of Boo. Not that I mind but Scout's jonesin' for a longer walk, I think.

The weather ended up clearing out a bit yesterday so I was able to get in the spa and do a bit of tanning. It was lovely if a little warm. My water is having a hard time cooling down and there's really nothing I can do about that. Maybe I'll buy some giant bags of ice and add that. Hmm...

Plans today: After I finish this I'll go do some yoga. Yesterday I ended up doing an upper body workout instead of yoga. I need to do some stretching today though. I think I'll also do a nice swim after that. Beyond that I have no plans and I don't plan on going anywhere today. Dinner will be pulled BBQ chicken with Cole slaw and fries. Something easy.

I finished the Correspondent and LOVED it. I give it 5 stars. Highly recommend. I need to find another book to download on my iPad. I've been lucky lately with my picks and hopefully that will continue. Too often in the past few months I'll be reading a book I'm just not that into and so I just don't finish them. In the past I'd muddle through but ain't nobody got time for that!

Weekend plans: We have Saturday plans with the Nunns. I think the thought is we'll go out early afternoon to Pins Mechanical in Deerfield, play some duckpin, maybe some pinball, then go to 50 West for a beer and maybe Sonder. From there we'll go to dinner (not sure where) and then home. I offered to drive but then Lauren had the idea that we could have one of her kids drop us off and from there we could Uber. We'll see about that.

And that's all for now. Time to get my yoga on and chill out. Happy Friday! Happy weekend. Later!

Swimming In Soup

That's what it felt like walking Scout and Boo this morning. I can take the heat but the humidity wears me out, which is why I'm a little late in my post. I wanted to get the boys walked before it got too uncomfortably thick out there.

I have to say that walking Boo gives me a little anxiety. I worry constantly that we'll encounter other dogs out there and/or a neighbor dog will be out. There's a house up the street that has two dogs on an invisible fence and these dogs are assholes. When they see me coming with a pup, they'll run out front and bark their heads off. Their line is SOOOOO close to the street too and I know one of these days, one of them is going to break it. I've been told it's happened before. It better not with me or there will be some trouble!

Another house up the street has two German shepherds which supposedly have an invisible fence but I don't believe that. Too often these dogs (well, mostly the black shepherd) is found wandering around. Yesterday, as I walked by, the lady of the house left for work. As I walked by, I saw their garage was open as was their front door but no one was around. As I came back with Boo, the front door was still open. I switched out the dogs and leaving with Scout, the door continued to stand open. I was just waiting for one or both of the shepherds to come barreling out. By the time I got home with Scout, it was finally closed. Is it no wonder that walking Boo freaks me out sometimes?

Plans for the day: I'm going to make my menu for the rest of the week after I do this. (Tonight we're having meatball hoagies and I think I'll do a summer salad with corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta.) Then I'll do some yoga, get ready and head out. I'm going to run a sample of my spa water up to our local pool place to make sure all is balanced then head to Aldi. Beyond that I don't have real plans. I wish it were nicer so I could lay out but I don't think that's going to happen.

Oh, I ended up going and getting my hair cut yesterday. I got about 2 inches taken off and then had her add some long layers. I know I always wear my hair up but still, it looks so much lighter and bouncier and feels really good. Loves me a haircut.

I finished watching The Bear yesterday. I'm so sad that series is over but I liked how it ended. What am I going to watch next?!

I'm reading two really good books right now: The Correspondent by Virginia Evans and Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. Highly recommend though I haven't finished either yet.

Okay, time to get my menu and grocery list done and then do yoga. Happy Thursday. Later!

Back Home Again

And I'm back after a very successful vacation. Lots of family time, boat time, pool time, great meals, and best of all laughs and relaxation. Jim and I managed to catch the 8:00 yesterday and were home before noon. It was an easy drive back and then Jim decided to go into work for a 1/2 day. Worked for me. I'll be back at the Bay during the last week of July.

The boys were very happy to see us but after they each got a walk and lots of love time, they retreated to their favorite place in the summer: Under the guest bedroom bed. They really do sleep the majority of their days. Wish I could.

Today's plans: I need to get back to my yoga routine so after I walk the boys, I'll do that. I also need to mow the backyard which I dread. It really wears me out in this humidity but hopefully since it isn't too terribly hot I won't struggle like I did last week. Beyond that I need to get to the store for a few needed items and of course Jim left his charger at the Bay so I need to get him a new one. I don't know why he even took one since we have a permanent charging station up there and of course Jim wouldn't remember to take it back home.

I have to make a menu for the rest of the week so I'm not sure what's for dinner but most likely I'll do something on the grill and corn because Becky gave me a bunch of corn she had from her veggie delivery service.

Most of my neighbors are out of town so it's very quiet around here. Additionally since we haven't fed the squirrels or birds while we were gone, they've abandoned us. I'm sure they'll return when they realize we're feeding them again but I miss all the activity.

I went to bed last night and Argentina was losing their match against Egypt 0-2. I woke up and saw that in the last, less than 20 minutes, they came back to win 3-2. So happy. I did NOT want Egypt to win (loves me some Messi) and now I think I'm on board for Argentina to take it all. I'm still on the fence. I'd be okay with either them or England taking the cup.

Okay, I'm getting the hairy eyeball from my hairy beasts so I'd better get out there an walk them. Happy Wednesday. Later!

Awaiting The Arbaughs

As I sit here, Trip, Susan and JJ should be on their way here. They better be. He said they were going to get off early - 6ish? - which should put them on the island around 10 or so. And then, let the frivolity begin!

Yesterday was another scorcher. It was beautiful though with not a cloud in the sky all day and the only place to be was the pool. We got there pretty much when they opened and stayed until about 3:30. After coming home, everyone but Jim and I went out on the boat. I wasn't feeling it though so stayed in and watched the Reds. (Thank the baby Jesus they didn't get swept again by those stupid f&%king Brewers!)

Dinner last night was Anne's and she made vodka pasta, salad and bread which completely hit the spot. I was in need of carbs. We didn't do much after that and I was in bed around 9:30 although Jim and I were talking for a while before we finally went to sleep.

We've got another beautiful day here although I do think there's a chance for a pop up thunderstorm or two this afternoon. As of right now, however, there's not a cloud in the sky and the lake is REALLY calm. I'm thinking that in a bit, after my coffee etc. I might just go out on the paddleboard and take a little trip around Gibraltar. Anne and I pumped up the 3 paddleboards yesterday which I always say I won't do but then do it every year. The problem is we have a pump but it's busted and I don't know why it doesn't get thrown away. I thought we had another new one but I looked and couldn't find it. Then cousin Allen called and said it's in the closet in the downstairs bedroom. Why the mother effer is it there?! Why isn't it in the garage with all the other equipment including the busted pump!? Oh well, I got a good arm workout from it.

Dinner tonight will be tacos, I believe, a la Trip and Susan. Yummy!

Okay, I'm going to finish drinking my coffee. Happy - what the eff day is it? - Friday...I think. Later!

You Can't Make This Shit Up!

To say that yesterday's trip north did not go as planned is a bit of an understatement. It started out well. I got up at 4:30 and Jim popped out of bed quickly and without any coaxing. We were able to get everything done which included walking the boys by 5:30. We were in the car and on our way ahead of schedule and I was a happy Muwee. Traffic was a bit much but then it was a workday.

Approaching downtown Dayton (I fucking HATE Dayton with ever cell in my body!!!) where their continual 30 year construction continues, I moved over to the high speed lane so that I could drive through in the contra lane. I was maybe a quarter mile in and we stopped. My immediate thought was Oh mother fucker! This was at 6:20. We didn't move again until 9:45. Apparently some dumb mother fucking semi (why the fuck are semis allowed to use a contra lane) broke down. It was fucking awful. However, I did not freak out. I didn't get mad. Jim didn't freak out. Jim didn't get mad. I just kept saying to myself Self, you're on vacation and you'll eventually get out of this and this time tomorrow, you'll be in PIB.

But it gets better or rather worse. Suddenly, out of nowhere, cars start moving. I literally yelled, "Holy shit!!! They're moving!" Guess what? The car two up, wouldn't start. I should rephrase that. The FUCKING BEATER two cars ahead of us wouldn't start. I mean, of course that happened. The poor dude - I really did feel bad for him - he pops his hood, gets out of his car, fiddles with something and tries to start it again. Nothing. He bangs on his steering wheel and I can see him yelling. Meanwhile, I'm saying screaming "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?!?" At the same time, Jim's saying, "It's cool. Calm down. This shit happens to him all the time...he knows what to do." The guy tries again.. Nothing. And then, the guy in the car in front of us (the one behind the newly disabled car) gets out pops his trunk, grabs some tools, they fiddle around with the beater for about 3-4 minutes and HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! The car starts and we're on our way. It was a fucking miracle I kid you not!

From that point on, things went well with our trip although it was tough not to drive like a bat out of hell. We made it to the ferry and literally drove right on the boat, last car, after all the passengers had loaded. Thank you Jesus.

Yesterday was miserably hot and spent at the pool. Other than getting out to refresh my drink, I was in the water the whole time. I made dinner and because I was exhausted, I hit the hay by about 9:00. Oh, and apparently Jim drank a little too much last night...after I went to bed. In the middle of the night, he got up to go to the bathroom. However, instead of going in the hall bathroom where he should have gone, he went INTO Anne and Steve's bedroom, peed in their en suite and then thankfully returned to our room. WTF!? Moral of the story: Family, lock your doors!

Today's Plans: Charlie should be arriving later. We're going to attempt to blow up the paddle boards before the heat of the day hits. Although that's already happened. There will definitely be pool time and who knows what else. Anne is in charge of dinner and will be making vodka pasta, garlic bread and a salad.

And that's all I have for now. Time for a mimosa. Happy Thursday. Later!

Crunch Time

I have a ton to do today but thankfully I got a lot done yesterday. I did NOT go to Aldi like I'd originally planned though because I hate the Aldi on Fields Ertel. I decided to wait until today and go to the Milford one. I think it was a good decision. I did make a quick stop at Target though and got new sheets. Ooh, that reminds me that I need to put those in the dryer.

Here's what I have to do today:
  • Walk Scout (I'll do that after I finish here)
  • Mow the front yard (which I need to do before the crazy heat hits...I barely made it through mowing the backyard yesterday)
  • Go to Aldi
  • Clean (I'll put Jim to work on this though)
  • Marinate the pork tenderloin
  • Pack
  • Do laundry
  • Organize in prep for leaving tomorrow
  • Pack what I can in the car
I'll be able to get most of that done this morning. Hopefully when I pack today I won't forget anything like I did the last two times I went to PIB. I forgot workout shirts one time and workout bras another. I'm a dummy.

OMG, yesterday I sent Diane a text like I usually do a couple days before vacay to make sure she knows when we're leaving and just say, "Hey, you still good for house/dog sitting?" Well, when I did she responded with "Haha". Uh oh. Apparently when I texted with her in March, I'd told her I would cement my July dates that Friday and I never did. Thank the baby Jesus she didn't book anything else and will still be able to take care of my babies. I'm such an asshole!

So I follow Pink on IG. Normally her posts consist of hilarious memes and one today made me laugh out loud. It said, "Dogs lick us because we have bones inside and scientists say they want them." That shit is funny.

This one also cracked me up:

Oh, Jimmy's up. I expected him to sleep longer. Although he said he got home at 11:30 so that's not too bad.

Okay well, I'd best get a move on. Obvs I won't be posting tomorrow because I plan on being on the road EARLY (6ish) but I will be taking my computer so you'll at least have something to read while I'm gone. You're welcome. Later!

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have a lot of jobs today and tomorrow in preparation for leaving Wednesday and I'm hoping each day to get my shit done before noon so I can relax for most of my day. Additionally, Jim's on 2nd shift this week so that will help me with my morning walk as he'll be able to take Boo. I'm also hoping that will allow for him to deal with his laundry and cleaning. Today, however, he's going to go paint at his friend Chris's house around noon before he has to be at work his shift. It's going to be a long day for Jimmy.

Today my jobs entail walking Scout, mowing the backyard, and then going to Costco and Aldi. It's a lot but I want to get the majority of jobs done today so everything tomorrow is stuff around the house. I'll also go to the bank and gas up the car (since I don't plan on driving anywhere tomorrow).

The weekend was good. On Friday, my neighbors house went on the market and so the evening was spent watching several couples get a tour. At first I was in the living room window with my binoculars and wine trying to get a looksee at who we might be our new neighbors. Once it started raining though we sat on the front deck and kept an eye out. By Saturday afternoon, there was a "sale pending" sign up. That's some crazy shit. I immediately sent a text to my neighbors selling and got the names of our new neighbors so we could stalk them to see what we'd be dealing with. Seems they are very young (probably mid-20s), newly married; he works for PNC and she's a physician's assistant. Apparently she's pregnant with her first baby. He's from Cincy, she from Michigan. I'm sure they'll be a good fit...we'll see.

Sunday Jim and I went to Trip and Susan's. They fed us lunch and then we hung out in the pool and once JJ got home (he'd been at a card trading show) we played us some volleyball. I'm sad to say that my team (JJ, me and Susan) fell twice to those cheaters Trip and Jim. I'm still shocked that Jim actually played pretty well. Hell must have frozen over. Oh well, even though I was a loser I had a great time. They're backyard oasis is so lovely. Can't wait to go back.

When we got home, I was going to cook but then just didn't feel like it. So, we ended up getting Chinese delivered and now we have leftovers for the next couple night so I won't have to cook this week either. Woot!

Here's something annoying: I ordered a new fan to take up to the Bay and specifically ordered the fan I bought so it would obviously be delivered before we left. It was supposed to be here today but then I got an email saying they had to push the date to...July 2nd. Fuck! And they won't let me cancel the order. I guess I'll keep it here and then buy one today to take up. Dummies.

Okay, time to get a move on. It's so disgustingly sticky out there which will make mowing the backyard a bear. Oh well. Happy Monday. Later!

Racing The Rain

Sorry I'm a little late today. While I was sipping my cup of coffee, watching the news, I realized I needed to get out quickly to walk the dogs before the deluge started. As I came back with Scout, it just started to sprinkle so mission accomplished.

Speaking of Scout, you'll be happy to hear he is no longer gimpy. In fact, I'm not convinced he wasn't faking it. Because we all know Scout's a turkey.

Ugh...I'm watching America's Sweethearts right now and it's toward the final episode when they make their cuts. I hate that I get invested in these girls and then they have to go. It hasn't happened yet but I'm afraid my favorite girl is going to go. I could look online and cheat to see who was on the squad (since this is last years girls) but that's not me.

Speaking of the shows I love, The Bear dropped last night and I'm so excited. I think I'll watch the last episode from the last season so I remember exactly how things were left and then start season 5...the last season...Wah!!!

Plans today: I'll do a bit of cleaning and probably get on the elliptical but beyond that, it might just be a rainy day in front of the TV for Muwee. Dinner tonight will be Key West chicken, corn and probably a caprese salad.

Weekend Plans: Nothing is really on the agenda except for Sunday when Jim and I will go to Trip's for a little pool time. We'll see what Jim wants to do this weekend. Maybe somewhere for lunch tomorrow...it's been a while since we've done our usual Saturday outing. We're so boring.

Oh! My neighbors diagonal from me put their house up for sale. It went live this morning and is on the market for $549,000. I think it will go for more than that because it's a really nice house on a corner lot with a nice fenced in backyard, 4 BR, 2.5 baths, a finished basement on 3/4 acres. A corner house up the street that isn't nearly as nice went for $561,000. I anticipate this will be pending by Sunday and they'll cancel the open house they have scheduled. But we'll see...what do I know.

Okay - time to finish my coffee. Happy Friday, happy weekend. Later!

Gimpy!

This is not Scout
Poor Scoutie! I was laying in bed waking up and felt a dog come up on the bed. I was pretty sure it was Scout but didn't look because if I had, there would have been a tongue in my eyeball. And then I heard a small squeaky little whine and I thought Oh, that's Boo and he must have his panda ball or fox ball! (Boo has these little toys that are squeaky balls wrapped in fabric, one which is a panda and the other a fox. When he carries them around in his mouth, he whines at them, mimicking their squeak. It's pretty cute.) So I crack my eye open and see Scout laying there just staring at me. I smiled at him and he then slowly stood up and proceeded to limp over, holding his poor little left front paw in the air. When he reached me, he collapsed into me and held his paw up. It was pretty pitiful.

I'm guessing that the injury happened when my fool dogs went tearing outside this morning chasing squirrels. Yesterday morning, I was enjoying my breakfast smoothie on the back deck, doing a crossword when Boo ran out into the yard to chase a squirrel and instead of following his brother's path to assist, Scout ran onto the hot tub (the cover was on...duh!) and launched himself into the yard. It's a wonder we've only had one broken leg in this house. When are they going to slow it down a bit? I still get nervous when Scout jumps on the fence and still nearly makes it over. He's 9! He shouldn't have that same spring in his legs anymore! We'll see if he can make it on his walk today.

Yesterday was once again a pretty chill day although I did take a short trip to Watson's for spa supplies and Kroger. Instead of a bike ride I did some swimming and after that I just laid around and read my book. I ended up making homemade sloppy joes (with ground chicken) corn and Cole slaw. Tonight I'm going to make Salisbury steak (a new recipe with mushroom gravy...I can hear Maggie right now saying, "GROSS!"), mashers and green beans.

It's supposed to start raining this afternoon so I'm going to try and get all my "jobs" done before I run out of outdoor time. This includes my usual walk but beyond that I need to shellack our Adirondack rockers and side table. We'll see if Jim remembered to put out the materials I need to do that.

I was just watching a story on the heat wave in Europe and was thinking, Pussies! I mean how hot can it be! Trying coming to mid-west USA in late July and August! And then I looked up what they were dealing with and in some places, it's up to 109! Yowza! That's hot and I don't think it's as typical in Europe that people have AC. Apparently 48 people have drowned jumping in rivers and lakes trying to cool off. How does that happen!? I mean, can't they swim?

Okay well, I guess it's time to get a move on. Happy Thursday. Later!

No Complaints

In regard to the weather, I have no complaints. I mean, it's nearly July and the fact that the temps haven't gotten out of the 80s is heaven to me. Of course that all changes starting tomorrow with a round of storms and rain to bring in the humidity and temps in the 90s for next week. Starting next Wednesday, however, I'll be in PIB where it will also be hot but not as oppressive as I'm sure it will be here. Plus, heat and humidity hit differently on the island. Fingers crossed we have a good steady breeze.

And I'm sure you know that just because I titled my post "No complaints" doesn't mean I have no complaint AT ALL. That was just in regard to the weather. What do I have to complain about? What else...school. Found out yesterday that my inept admin (let's call her Lily...if you know, you know) was put on administrative leave which is such BULLSHIT!!! What kind of punishment is putting an admin on paid leave during the summer?! That's a fucking reward. First of all, she failed at her job. She was supposed to do teacher evaluations but skipped out completing many of them and then lied on paper about what she'd "observed". She was also reported to have had an inappropriate relationship with a teacher while on campus. Additionally, it was reported she LEFT campus during school hours to meet up with said teacher. (For a little tryst? Maybe...that's the rumor.) I'm hoping that they are just getting their ducks in a row in order to let her go but I won't count on that. I'm sure she has enough dirt on other admins to pitch a fit and if she has a lawyer, the power that be will back off as they've done historically.

The thing that really gets my goat is she was put in a position this past year that had everyone scratching their head. Although she was still a VP at the high school, her title changed so that she was in charge of "teaching and learning". And yet, there was no set job description nor did anyone know what her responsibilities were. I can't tell you how many times people went by her office to find her door closed with a sign that said "Out of office" or "In a meeting".  The number of times she went back and forth to the junior high to see her girlfriend? Dozens and dozens...at least 2 times per day (for the days she was even at school). Annoying. Hopefully, the powers that be are going to finally end this shit.

You'll be happy to hear that my tuna noodle casserole was a hit. I'm not sure what I'm doing for dinner tonight. We might have too many leftovers for me to make something else but we'll see. I might do a "Key West grilled chicken" with rice and broccoli. We'll see how I feel.

Yesterday was a completely lovely day. Along with my dog walk, I did an ab and arm workout and then took a bike ride (went 7.25 miles and my butt didn't fall off). I then enjoyed my spa for a couple hours and cuddled with by boys until it was time to get dinner going. Jim came home from work and we sat on the deck with Doug and Lauren for a drink before eating. Jim was wiped out so after dinner, he went to bed and I went back out to hang with a couple other neighbors for a drink. I was in bed before 9:00.

Today after I finish my animal responsibilities (Jimmy had to be at work at 6:00 so didn't walk Boo) I'll shower and head to Watson's. I have a gift card and need to get chemicals. Other than that, I've got no other plans. Ah summer.

Okay, time to get a move on. Happy (WTF day is it?) Wednesday. Later!

25!!!

We did it. Twenty-five years! The silver anniversary. And what did Jim get me? Jewelry? A lovely silver keepsake? Nope. He got me what I got him. Nothing. In fact, when I got out of bed and came down for my coffee, Jim, who was already up, hadn't even brewed my first cup. When I said, "Happy anniversary to me," he said, "Shit! I'm an asshole." When I asked him if he was going to walk Boo for me he looked at me like I was asking the world and once again, I said, "Happy anniversary to me!" I guess the sham continues. Here's to another 25.

I should backtrack here a bit to remind myself and you all that we did take a trip to the Bahamas in December which was in celebration of our 25th year so there is that.

Unfortunately (fortunately?) Jim is working today so I'll be spending most of this lovely day alone. (OH SHIT!!! I just heard the click of Boo's harness which means...JIMMY'S WALKING BOO!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME! Jimmy IS a good boy!) My plans are to walk Scout (extra long one for him!), do some yoga and probably take a bike ride. With the weather as lovely as it is, I might just have to spend some time laying in the sun. I mean, why wouldn't I? Beyond that, I'm sure I'll do some reading (still loving my book), binging (American Sweethearts released season 3) and hanging with my boys. Sounds like a great day.

Aldi still didn't have my cinnamon creamer yesterday which is annoying.

There isn't much else to discuss. Dinner tonight will be tuna noodle casserole. I know what you're thinking. That doesn't sound like much of an anniversary type dinner but that's what Jimmy wanted and I aim to please. I'm trying out a new recipe, hopefully it's a good one. Or...pizza it is!

Okay, time to get a move on since Scout's giving me the hairy eyeball. But that's the only kind of eyeball he has so I'll forgive him. Happy Tuesday! Later!

Hey Brainless!

Once again, Wordle has me stumped. I've got two guesses left and nothing is making sense. Am I getting dumber? Don't answer that.

The weekend was a good one although besides Saturday we didn't do much. Friday we just chilled...hung out for a bit with the neighbors, ate dinner, went to bed. Saturday was JJ's graduation party and it was really nice. Trip and Susan really pulled out all the stops. Tons of food, drink, desserts and the weather cooperated for the most part (there was one tiny bout of rain that barely gave time us time to take cover). Jim and I got there around 12:15 and stayed until about 5:30. There was a good revolving door of people to celebrate JJ during the day. I think the celebration continued with mostly JJ's friends after we left. He deserved it and I'm sure he had a great time.

Sunday Jim and I hung out. We both got up way too early (damn you Boo and Scout) and after Jim walked Boo and ate his breakfast sandwich, he ended up laying down again. I sat out back on my deck, enjoying the beautiful weather doing a crossword or two before finally succumbing to the call of my spa. I laid in the sun for a couple hours then showered and read some more. My neighbor asked if I wanted to have a glass of wine or two so I did. And finally, Jim and I had dinner (baked ravioli) before I retired early to read my book.

Speaking of my book, I know I mentioned that I'm reading The Calamity Club but I just want to reiterate how much I'm liking it. Again, highly recommended.

Today's plans include my typical Monday chores which are: dog walking (Jim didn't walk Boo because the weather is ass), grocery shopping and then I'll probably just read. We do have a guy coming to look at the roof/eave at 10:00 which sort of disrupts my routine but I'll hold back from bitching because really, what else do I have to do? Oh, and if you're wondering, Jim's 2nd shift job got pushed a week so he's on regular shift this week. Which is good because that means he'll only be on 2nd shift Monday and Tuesday next week since we leave for PIB next Wednesday!

Speaking of PIB, today I'll also put together a spreadsheet and share with everyone so we can organize meals when we're all there. Expect that at some point today people.

Okay well, I'm going to try and get the boys walked here before the downpour hits. Hopefully I won't get caught in it but if I know me, I will. Oh, and dinner tonight will be a cobb salad.

Happy Monday! Later!

Called It

Yesterday, in my blog, I told you about Jim offering to walk Boo in the morning and that he was going to regret that offer. Well, don't you know that he suddenly claims that he was talking about walking Boo when he was on 2nd shift starting Monday. He claims the thought that's what was being discussed. First of all, yes, we talked about that but then after that, he offered to walk Boo BEFORE leaving for work...IN THE MORNINGS when he's on regular shift. I mean, of course he'd be walking Boo while on 2nd shift...that would be a given. Just like he walks him on the weekends. Duh! The fact that I recapped the discussion in my post from yesterday cracks me up because I knew he'd have rewritten history. Regardless, he's currently out walking Boo. He wasn't sore about it and didn't hem and haw (because he knows I don't believe he misunderstood). Plus, it's a federal holiday and he still has to work so work can suck it if he's a few minutes later than usual.

I'm pretty excited about the weather today because I think it's going to be really nice. I plan on a lovely bike ride and time in my spa. Oh, and I have to mow the backyard. (I'll try to mow the front tomorrow before heading to the Arbaughs for JJ's grad party). Of course I'll walk Scout as well and since I don't have to walk Boo he'll get a good 3-miler. (Please don't think I mind walking Boo but sometimes he stresses me out because he's a freak when other dogs are in his eye line.)

I'm stumped on the Wordle today and it's pissing me off. I've got three guesses left and can't figure it out. I put it down for a minute so that I can hopefully see it with a fresh mind a little later. (Don't tell me Trip!) Hopefully I won't forget to go back to it like I usually do which then effs up my stats.

BTW - I am aware that yesterday at the end of my post I said "Happy Wednesday" when it was really Thursday. I've been messed up all week on what day it is. Call it teacher summer brain.

Weekend plans: Like I mentioned, tomorrow is JJ's graduation party. It starts at 1:00 but Jim and I will probably get there just a bit early to help with any last minute set up. We'll probably have to come home around 4:00 or 5:00 for the pups. I can't wait. We don't have any other plans.

Dinner tonight: Mini sausage patties, caprese salad and corn. Yummy.

I'm pretty excited for next week by the way! The Bear will be released on June 25th! Sadly though it's the final season. I love that show so much!

I didn't know this but Netflix is releasing a reboot of Little House on July 9th. Hopefully they didn't cast an asshole to play Carrie. Hopefully they didn't cast a Carrie at all. I hate that bitch! (HAHA!!! IYKYK)

And that's all I've got. Time to get Scout walked. Happy Friday! Happy weekend! Later!

This Is Crazy!

Crazy #1: The tri-state area was bombarded with tornado warnings last night but my neighborhood/county was completely spared. In fact, other than rain and some rumbles of thunder and lightning, we got nothing. I kept waking up and checking out the giant oak tree I can see while laying in my bed to ensure it wasn't blowing and it never was. Sorry for all those who did suffer damage and power outages but, PHEW!!!

Crazy #2: I was looking at my memories on FB and it's been 17 years since Jim and I redid our primary bathroom. How has it been that long?! I still like my bathroom  but we did replace the shower tile a few years ago which allowed me to continue liking it. I say like rather than love because I wish it were bigger. There's nothing to do about that though and truthfully, it works for me.

Crazy #3: I was thinking yesterday that I wish Jim would be on 2nd shift a couple days to give me a bit of relief from always having to walk both dogs and this morning Jim told me that he's on 2nd shift starting Monday through at least Wednesday! More proof that I'm psychic! I told him I wasn't mad because that meant I didn't have to always walk both dogs and he said, "I'd walk Boo but you always take care of it." I said, "I don't want him to have to wait until you get home from work." He answered with, "I can walk him in the morning." He's going to be sorry he ever said that because I'm going to take him up on it.

The saga of the Reach flossing stick continues. I went to Walmart yesterday and they didn't have them! WTF?! First of all, more people should be preferring to use the stick because it's so much easier (and more sanitary) than using regular floss. There's really no second of all. Anyway, I ended up going on Amazon and buying a two-pack so I'll have a backup. I think the one I have has lasted for many years so I don't think I'll have to worry about it for a while.

I took a bike ride yesterday and it was lovely. I only went 5 miles because A) I wanted to ease into it, B) it was almost lunchtime and I was hungry and C) I wasn't sure how my butt would do. You'll be happy to know that I had no unusual butt pain. I say unusual because riding my bike has always hurt my butt after a while but it's tolerable. I was going to take a ride again today but the weather might not cooperate. We'll see.

Other than my usual exercise and such today, I'll clean the house. Beyond that, I'll just chill and read my book, which I'm loving. If you'll recall, I'm reading the latest Kathryn Stockett, The Calamity Club. She's a really good writer who has the most likable characters. Highly recommend.

Dinner tonight: Pork chops with a Boursin sauce, mashers and green beans.

And that's about all I've got. I think I'll get out there now and walk the boys. Hopefully no one else will be out there with theirs. Yesterday as I came home with Boo one of my neighbors was coming down the street with their cute little pup and I thought, Shit! I ended up walking into a neighbors yard around some big old bushes so that Boo wouldn't see the other dog and get triggered. He knew she was there and kept trying to get a look at her but never did and so never freaked out. He's crazy. He's crazy #4.

Okay that's all I've got. Happy Wednesday! Later
