Not much happened over here at the Hanke household. We did our usual NYE thing: Cards with Doug and Lauren early (during the 1:00 game) then they left and Jim and I watched the Bengals (so disappointing) and then we just hung out and enjoyed a fire. I cooked up some filets with asparagus, twice-baked potatoes a little lump crab meat and some Béarnaise sauce. It was really yummy! I think we both went up to bed around 9:00 and I managed to sleep until 7:00. (Jimmy got up with the boys.)
Today we don't have much going on. We're going to take down Christmas inside and I'll make our good luck pork and sauerkraut for dinner. I've done my yoga and will walk the dogs after this. I'll wait to get on the elliptical until after we get things put away. No rush.
I'm headed to Columbus tomorrow for a couple days. We need to get Mom's condo a little less cluttered. She's taken a couple spills and it seems things need to be organized so she can maneuver around a little better. This means that I won't be posting, at least on Wednesday...just a little warning.
I keep thinking, This time next week I'll be at school. It's bumming me out and I need to not let that thought do that to my brain. I've had such a lovely December and I need to remember that I'm so lucky that A) I had the ability to take that time off to be with Jim and B) I need to be grateful that Jim made it through with such flying colors. And I am grateful but it's hard to be excited about going back to work. I need to look on the bright side.
- I'm not half way through the school year!
- I only have two IEPs due in January and I don't think I have another one due until March!
- I'm pretty well set for going back to school in terms of lesson plans so there's not much to do and
- BONUS: I start my ELA classes watching Catching Fire (since we just finished the book).
