Too many losses these past few days. The first was a former French teacher at my school. She retired just a couple years ago and soon after was diagnosed with cancer. She originally opted not to treat it but then did but passed this past weekend.
The second loss was my student who had been battling way too many things. She'd been sick pretty much all her life (from a heart transplant as a baby to most recently cancer and the need for a double transplant of her heart and kidneys). I'm sure her body had just had it. I hope her family is comforted a little by the fact that she went peacefully, at home with her family surrounding her and she's finally out of pain. She was one of the sweetest, most upbeat, strong student I've ever had. So senseless and stupid...sometimes I just don't understand this life.
In other news, I'm headed up to Columbus in a bit. I'm going to be there for Eva's "Clap out" - her last day at Windemere. Tonight we'll go out to eat at Jeff Ruby's (yum!) but other than that, we have no real plans. I'll come home Friday, noonish.
Did I mention that Scout has moved on to turtles? He caught himself a baby on Monday. I told him that he was a bad boy with that one. I mean, that's just lazy to go after something so slow and easy to catch. Plus, what did a turtle ever to to anyone. Of course I think it was a snapping turtle but still. It was just trying to pass through the backyard to some creek and here comes this maniacal mutt who can't just let other animals live. He's a bully is what he is. Bad Scout!Jim's got nowhere to work today which pisses me off. I mentioned that his boss quit and so Jim's now under the supervision of some other dude who was basically shoved into this situation. I'm hoping this is just a bump in the road but they need to get their shit sorted out so Jim isn't idle when he should be working. I mean, there's plenty of work out there. Frustrating.
Okay well, I guess I'll get a move on. Happy...what day is it? Wednesday? Happy Wednesday. I probably won't post again until Friday. Later!
