Another Monday and it's going to be a beautiful one. After a few HOT days we're back to cooler weather with low to no humidity. It's absolutely lovely.
The weekend was good, starting with, on Friday, a quick meet at Shooters with Jimmy. From there we came home, had some drinks and then dinner. Saturday was kind of a yucky day...no rain but hot and cloudy. Jim and I just hung out after walking the dogs (and a bike ride for me) until it was time to head out with D&L for a night out. We actually went out around 4:30 and headed to Streetwise - a brewery down near Lunken Airport. After a beer there, we headed to Zips for dinner. We were all SO excited about going as none of us had been there in forever. And of course it was a disappointment.First of all, our waitress was annoying. And I should mention, when we first got there I think there were only two other tables seated with 3 waitresses. She took our order for drinks - I got a Guinness and a water. She forgot the water. Then she took our food order. I stated, "I'd like to start with a cup of chili." What does that imply to you? That I'd like it first...before my burger. And isn't it the norm to bring soup prior to you actual meal? Unless I'd said, "Bring it all together" it should be understood that chili/soup comes first. But it didn't. Finally, after about 15 minutes, as she passed our table (where we had empty beer glasses that needed filling) I flagged her down and said, "I never got my chili." And then she said, "Here it comes." And another waitress delivered our whole meal.
Then, Doug and Lauren who both got a black bean burger with cheese didn't get their cheese. Lauren who asked for jalapenos on the side didn't get those. Jim didn't get his bacon on his burger. It was a shit show. Oh, and at the end of the meal when she finally came by and asked if I wanted another beer, I said, "I was going to but I'm finished now so I'll just take the water I never got." I'm passive aggressive that way. I will say, however, that my burger was good.
From there we went to a local distillery called Karrikin. The place is enormous. It's located on route 50 right across from the Frisch's Mainliner. It was okay, however, the vodka gimlet I got tasted like the vodka must have been made in a whiskey barrel. It was weird. And I don't like whiskey so it took several sips for me to finally be able to suck it down. Oh well...live and learn.
And since we were right there, we went to Frisch's for dessert. And that was a shit show. They didn't have the blueberry topping Jim wanted on his cheesecake. They didn't have the coconut cream pie Doug wanted and his alternative - cherry pie - they didn't have. I just wanted a hot fudge cake and they had that so I was happy. It was as delicious as I remembered!
So next time we go out it will be my turn to choose. I've chosen to go to Arnold's. It will be a good place for D&L who aren't vegan anymore but steer more toward the vegetarian menu. I haven't been there in years and years so I'm looking forward to it. Maybe this weekend or next...we'll see.
Plans for today: Yoga (check), walk the boys (after this), Costco and probably a bike ride. It's garbage day however, and that can be a little crowded on the road. From there I'll lay out. Dinner tonight will be bratts/metts, caprese salad and corn. Yum.
Oh, I started listening to a new podcast called The Moth. It's usually 3 or 4 stories told by different people with a theme and it's REALLY good if you're interested. Had me in tears a couple times while walking Scout this weekend. Just life experience things.
Okay Scout's giving me the business. Time to get going. Happy Monday. Later!
