My Friday

Today is my Friday since Jim will have his procedure tomorrow. We have to be at the hospital at 8:45 but I'm not sure when the actual procedure will be. Hopefully this well go well and Jim will be able to come home. Of course I'm hoping for the best but sort of expecting the worst because, well, this is Jim and it seems recently he's taken the long road in all of his medical hurdles.

I had my first IEP of the year yesterday and it went well. It's a new kid to the district and she'd been in private school prior to this so it was considered an "initial" IEP. Technically, she probably doesn't really qualify but sometimes it's just easier to give the services. My part took all of about 15 minutes but the meeting itself was nearly an hour because it was also an evaluation meeting and that takes some time to go over. Today's IEP meeting should take about 20 minutes tops...I hope.

My yard is still a mess and I don't know when that's going to be fixed since Jim's out of commission for the next few days. I would imagine - if all goes well tomorrow - Jim will be released for work on the 27th which means he'll have next week to get shit done. He did buy a bunch of dirt and seed yesterday so that's something. I want to be able to help but can only do so much when I have to work all day.

Dinner tonight: Shepherd's Pie! Yummy! I'll serve it with lima beans...Jimmy can eat those.

These last two days when I've gotten up early, I've done yoga for my morning exercise and man I feel lovely. In fact, yesterday I didn't have to take ibuprofen! Hmm. I did a nice stretchy vinyasa flow today and feel ready to face the day.

Oh, shitty news: I though I was on an "off cycle" year for teacher evaluation but I was wrong. And the admin who's evaluating me is my head principal. He's the admin I trust the least. He's also the kind of guy who takes things personally and holds grudges. Additionally, he's going through some stuff in his personal life and it's totally affecting his ability to be a good leader. With the new system they're putting into place (fucking Ohio!) teachers who are considered in the highest level (accomplished?) are allowed to choose their evaluator. I'm tempted but unfortunately the admins have already been set and if I want someone different, it will be me having to say to my admin, "Oh, hey...yeah, I don't trust you and want you evaluating me." That seems like some bullshit doesn't it? I think I might talk to my building rep and voice my annoyance. We'll see.

Okay well, time to get going. Happy Thursday! Later!
