Dreaded Cicadas

Jim's headed to Columbus tomorrow for a job. He was told it's a two-day job but it's just painting two bathrooms so he thinks he might be able to finish it in one. However, if it takes two, he's going to see if he can arrange to finish it Saturday and stay at Maggie and Charlie's Friday night. He won't know if this will be needed, however, until he sees the job. Either way is fine with me because along with his hourly, he gets additional money each day for the long trip. It's the slow period at his work too so every little bit helps to make up for the short work weeks he's been having (along with doctor's appointments).

I "grilled" some chicken last night on my Cuisinart griddler and I don't know why I don't do that more often. It cooked the chicken perfectly and gave it that nice grilled flavor. It was so yummy and you know how I feel about chicken. I also cooked up some cauliflower gnocchi for me (Jim's not a fan) and mac and cheese for Jimmy along with brussel sprouts. Afterward Jim said, "Best meal ever!" Stick mac and cheese with anything and Jim's a happy man. It's his favorite thing.

Not sure what I'll make tonight for dinner. I have a Potato Cauliflower Curry on the menu but I'm not sure if I want all those leftovers. I might just take my leftover ragu from the other night, cook up some spaghetti and toss them together. With a salad, that might just be the thang! Plus, I know that's what Jimmy will want. K - done deal. Plus easy!

Nothing else is really happening here. We're going to be in or near the 60s this weekend which is exciting. I'm sure it won't last but it's a nice tease for spring. However, I'm not exactly looking forward to spring or the early part of summer this year with the 17-year cicadas in our future. I hate them and dread them. I'm really worried about Boo and Scout eating them when they emerge. Not that they're poisonous or anything but they'll get sick for sure by eating too many or they'll mess with their bellies. I just need to get out of dodge for about 4 weeks.

Every time I type Boo's name, I always accidentally add a letter. Today I typed "Boob". The other day, I typed "Book" and "Boot". Makes me laugh though.

Okay I've rambled on for long enough. Time to get to school. Happy Thursday! Ooh, only one more day after today! Stay healthy! Later!
