So apparently I missed quite the beginning of a shit storm yesterday during our early release meeting. About what, you ask? Well, this new load of bullshit that we as teachers have to go through for the new evaluation system. It is supposed to be implemented next year however, we're barely being told what/how to do everything. Especially the special ed department. They group us yesterday with math and science. And this is why it is such a shit storm. See, everything that we're required to do is not being presented to us in a way that helps us or teaches us HOW to work through these evaluations. We're supposed to write SLOs (student learning goals) but from one day to the next, we're told different things about what this entails. This could mean our jobs and they aren't instructing us how to do these things. And they keep piling on all this shit we have to do. Pre-tests, post-tests, two goals, self-evaluations, growth plans. We got all this instruction on our in-service day (not enough apparently) but then nearly everything I heard on that day has been contradicted by at least three different people. It's very frustrating. I do not look forward to next year when this actually means something. And they keep telling us not to worry that they'll walk us through everything but 2 out of the 3 administrators don't have any idea what they're doing either. Fucking state bullshit. New job needed. Lottery winning needed. Wine needed.
On to something better. I am well on my way to finishing Susan's quilt. I'm sure everyone who reads this already saw the pic on Facebook and I'm sorry to toot my own horn but I'm very proud how well the quilt has turned out so far. I worked from about 7:30 until 4:00 yesterday (with an hour and a half break to walk Sami, shower, lunch and run an errand) and I managed to complete the top. I wasn't able to layer it but I can do that Saturday and start the quilting process. YAY! I was afraid it would be too busy with all the patterns but it isn't too bad. I can't wait to finish it and start my next project (I already have that one figured out).
In other news - nothing. Just a lot of reviewing for exams in class. No meetings scheduled. Exciting.
K -well, I'm sure I have a lot of papers to grade at school so I best mosey and get my routine complete. Happy Thursday! Later!
