Some Sleep

I managed to get better sleep last night so no complaints there. 

School was fine yesterday. The kids were a little squirrelly and I had to tell them to shut their faces a couple times. Especially when I heard the "f" bomb dropped a couple times. 

I was working on my progress reports yesterday and typing up Greg's. I was going through the behavior referrals that he's had this quarter (there've been 9) and he's a real dick. He's a name caller and fucking immature and I feel bad for his other teachers and the kids who have to deal with him. He can be nice and charismatic but when he rears his ugly head he's just an asshole. I tried to write up his report unemotionally but I wanted to make sure the parents were aware of the types of things he lets fly out of his mouth. I'm sure they've heard it all, however. 

We finally got the email from our "director of teaching and learning" (what a bullshit title for someone who does NOTHING!) for our "exchange day". Essentially they've built into the calendar an in-service for January 2nd, the Friday before we officially come back from Winter Break. We all knew this wasn't going to be a real in-service but hadn't heard anything. We finally got the form to do the exchange. It's so sus. Basically you just have to fill this form out saying, "Oh, sure, yeah, I did some instructional planning on my own time on this date and did it for 7 1/2 hours." They don't even need any proof, which is fine with me. And realistically we all work on our own time to prep lessons etc. but again, stupid. And by the way, I wouldn't have gone to the in-service anyway had it been real. 

It turns out that our trip this weekend will just be Jim, me, Maggie and the boys. I'm fine with that. Not that I didn't want it to be a bigger family affair but people had plans and Eva's got a social life and major FOMO. I look forward to hanging, watching football, making chili, and being in my fave place. 

Dinner tonight: I'm making an Italian sausage, pasta, broccoli dish. I have a recipe but I'm going to do a little searching to see if I can ramp it up a bit; make it a little saucier.
