Done!

I made it. What a relief to have this year under my belt. Only 10 more years. Ha! I think we all know there's no way I can do another 10 years. But, we're not going to talk about that right now! We're going to celebrate the fact that, hopefully in only a few hours, I'll be driving away from my school, not to see it again until August.

Yesterday, I ended up leaving right after the kids finished with their exam, around 9:45. Trip had sent a text that Dad's WCB was once again, alarmingly high (48K). When I heard that I just wanted to see him, especially since I'm leaving tomorrow and wouldn't get to see him over the weekend. Becky was there when I arrived, sitting bedside, holding his hand. Dad was NOT confused when I arrived but he'd apparently been confused and had been trying to get out of bed earlier in the morning. The nurse took the time  and did a great job of bringing him back around but I think it was upsetting for all. At one point, Dad said something along the lines of "Maybe I should just die but I'm afraid." This breaks my heart. Of course I don't want him to be afraid or in pain but I don't want him to hang on because of fear. He's also been having nightmares a lot lately and not sleeping well. His appetite has started to diminish and mostly he only eating popsicles and ice cream. Since last week, he's lost 7 pounds. Hopefully, they'll figure out what's happening with him and he'll have some sort of relief.

After going to the hospital and that emotional experience, I decided to go home. I was going to return to school but really there was no point. Once home, I walked Scout and then finished polyurethaning the Adirondack chairs. They look good.

For dinner last night, Cullen, Becky, Jim and I ended up going out. We all met at an old favorite, Pacific Kitchen. It was delicious and I think we all left a little more relaxed and sated. We shared several apps and then I had Eggplant with Szechuan wrinkle beans. Jim had crispy orange chicken. Becky had a Korean short rib dish and Cullen had Pad Thai with chicken. So yummy! Dinner tonight will thus be burritos.

So yeah, today I have an 8:00 meeting and once that's over and I do what needs to be done for check out, I'll head out. I need to go to Aldi and Costco. I was going to go down to see Dad but Jim's going to go...probably before lunch. He said there will be some time where he has to wait for paint to dry and he wanted to see him.

My plan for tomorrow is to be on the road by 6:00. I'm planning on coming home Wednesday. I will be taking my computer so I should post on Monday and Tuesday...if I remember. Sometimes I forget when I'm up there.

I'm loving today's bird! It's an Andean Cock-of-the-Rock! So funny!

And that's all I've got. Happy Friday! Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Happy Summer! Later!
