Better Late Than Never, Right?

I told you I'd probably forget to post. It's just so easy to lose track of time here. However, reality has certainly been rearing it's head these last few days in terms of what's happening back at home with Dad.

Before I get to that though, I'll just say that it's been lovely here. We've had every bit of weather from sun to wind to a nice storm and waves crashing over the seawall. The girls and I (Eva brought 3 friends) enjoyed getting battered by the lake the other night and it reminded me when I was young(er). The girls have had a great time paddleboarding, going to the pool and tanning; shopping and riding around the island on their electric scooters. It's a nice place to be in with them able to entertain themselves. We, the adults, do our thing and they do theirs and here and there we meet up and hang. I love to see Eva making such great memories here and I love how much she loves this place.

In regard to my dad things have been very back and forth without a lot of answers. One day he seems better and his liver function is on the upswing and the next day he's looking jaundiced. One day he seems stronger and the next he's weak and tired and just struggling. The docs came in (yesterday? the day before?) with plans on tackling the infection that they can't seem to get under control. With that though come more tests and blood draws. Hearing this, Dad finally made a decision to call in hospice and get home. The plan transport him home today and set up him so that he's surrounded by things he loves in a place he loves. He's not giving up and nothing is imminent but he's come to understand where things stand and he seems to be at peace with that.

I thought about going home early but I spoke to Trip and he said there wasn't a rush. I'll see how things are with Dad when I'm home and I will make a decision about our week then. The plan was to come back up Saturday with the boys and then go back home the following Saturday. Doug and Lauren are supposed to come up Monday for a couple days but if we have to change our plans we will. Thankfully, we're only a few hours away.

And that's about all I've got. Today is our last day here and we're going to Frosty's for breakfast (haven't been yet) and the Goat for dinner. I'm sure the pool will play a part in our day but it's pretty chilly here and the clouds are still moving out so it may be later in the afternoon. I'm hoping to get on the road pretty early tomorrow (by 8 or 9), fingers crossed I don't run into weather. It looks like a possibility though. I miss my boys like crazy and can't wait to see them.

Happy Tuesday. Later!
