Lowkey Weekend

It was a lowkey weekend which consisted mainly of beer, wine, cards and just being there for Doug and Lauren. Lauren had a REALLY tough week as she tried to help her sister maneuver through everything that's come with her nephew's suicide. It hasn't been easy and I'm glad that Jim and I could give them a little mental respite in between dealing with all the shit. The biggest thing that's most pressing is that her sister and brother-in-law can't go back to their apartment. Not that they're not allowed to but they just can't bring themselves to enter. Lauren has done what she could to get what they need and pack up some things and most distressing, clean. They had a cleanup crew come to take care of Ben's room and the thing I find horrible about that is the cost. The company charged $6500, which just seems like a LOT to me. I don't know...maybe I'm wrong but that seems exorbitant. Anyway - it's all just so sad.

School this week is going to be a pain. Today will be normal but tomorrow we're giving the Pre-ACT to sophomores and the ACT to juniors. I'm proctoring 2 juniors - one of which might not even show up. That will take all morning and then the afternoon is just open. The rest of the week is normal until Friday when I get my 2nd vaccination and the whole district is on full remote. I THINK I've got all my assignments done and ready to post but I'll double check that today. I also have lots to do during the down time (two IEPs to write and progress reports to finish up) as Friday is the end of 3rd quarter, which is hard to believe. It's gone so fast.

The weather these next couple of days is supposed to be lovely and warm. I'm thinking of taking a bike ride today after school...we'll see if the temps are warm enough.

Dinner tonight: I think I'll grill some pork chops...roast some potatoes and broccoli.

And that's all I've got. Time to get a move on. Happy Monday. Stay healthy and safe. Later!
