Baby Chipmunk 0 - Scout 1

Scout, Scout, Scout. Why are you such a deadly little hunter? He sits at the side window in our bedroom, looking out at the side yard woodpile where the Chipmunk's like to nest and the minute he sees one, he ever-so-quietly sneaks outside to try and catch nab one. Yesterday evening, I'm sorry to say, he managed to snag a baby. I unfortunately didn't know about it until I found him in my bedroom, chomping away. Ugh! Of course I started yelling, "JIM!?!?! We have a dead animal!" Funny enough he didn't come running. Nope. He left it for me to clean up. Thankfully I did catch that turkey Scout and he didn't go under the bed with it, possibly leaving baby chipmunk carcass to rot.

You may be asking, "What was Boo doing during all this?" He was sitting in the hallway looking back and forth at me and Scout with a slightly nervous look on his face. I could see it in his eyes that he was saying, "It wasn't me. I didn't do it. Don't be mad. Don't yell at Scout, either." He gets very pitiful when there's a ruckus. It's hard to be mad at Scout when he does these things and I'm not mad. I just don't want him killing things and brining them in the house. I mean chipmunk's are a bit of a menace but he's obsessed. It's an addiction. Maybe I should send him to rehab.

Oh, and then after the whole debacle, surprise surprise! He puked. All of his dinner. He's only been eating once a day lately and he puked the last two times he's eaten. So far this morning he's kept his breakfast down. Of course he's dying to go outside right now but I'm nervous that he'll A) go out there and bark his stupid (sorry) head off or B) find another critter to chow down on which means he'll then C) puke. I hate spring!

Yesterday was gorgeous. I was able to enjoy it after after school with a tiny little walk with Scout (it was too hot for him and he wouldn't walk more than a mile) and then I mowed the front yard. It was lovely. Once Jim got home I enjoyed a beer with him before cooking dinner. I found a new beer by Braxton: Lemon Meringue Pie. It's delicious. It's got lemon with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. It isn't nearly as good as a Summer Shandy but it's very refreshing.

Dinner tonight: I was going to make Pasta a la Betsey (it's a shrimp pasta with sauce kind of like vodka penne) but I think it might be a bit too nice for a heavy meal like that. So, I think I'll do some sort of burger or the like. We'll see.

I'm hoping it will be nice after school so that I can take a bike ride. There are chances for pop up storms so who knows.

All right...best get a move on. Happy Tuesday! Later!
