Getting There

I went up to school yesterday not knowing what I'd be walking into and I was pleasantly surprised. Generally, everything was properly moved back into my room and things were where they was supposed to be. There was a table that needed moving out and a cabinet that I relocated; student desks had to be moved around and there was lots of organizing but it was a lot better than I thought it'd be. There are still some things in the hallway that need taking care of but that can come later. The issue is there's a ton of stuff that should be tossed; things that aren't needed and just taking up space. Cabinets need to be purged (Why, for example do we still have a shredder that's been stuffed into a cabinet for about 5 years and never used?) Hopefully this can get taken care of before the start of school but who knows.

Other than that, yesterday was pretty chill. I went to Menards and got a new faucet for my upstairs bathroom, which I hope to replace this weekend before Jim's procedures start (I'll do it myself but need his direction). I had lunch, ellipticalled, took a bath, and that's about it.

Today my plans are mostly the same as always: walk the pups, bike, elliptical, chill. I might do a little school work, if it's nice I'll catch some rays. However, dinner tonight will be out with some of my girls. We're meeting at a place I've never been (The Birch in Terrace Park). I look forward to seeing everyone and having a delicious dinner.

Oh, here's a sad story: So I mentioned that my next door neighbors put their house on the market last week. Did I also mention that one of the interested buyers were another neighbor's daughter (currently living in Chicago)? They put a bid on the house but I didn't know if the accepted bid was theirs. So, I saw this neighbor yesterday (his name is Jim) as I was driving down the street (he was jogging) and I stopped him and said, "Well?" And he said they got it. I said, "That's so great!" And he replied, "Yeah, it is, and here's why..." Apparently, the daughter is moving back partly because 2 months ago, Jim was diagnosed with ALS. I mean what!? He said he's been dealing with symptoms for the past year but it took about 10 months to get a diagnosis. He's currently doing well (only has numbness in his left hand) and can still play tennis and jog etc. and has a great attitude. He said to me, "Every day is a gift." I'm just so happy that it worked out for his daughter to get this house and I'm excited for someone new and young. (She and her husband have a 1 1/2 year old and she's pregnant.)

And that's about all. Jim just left and is headed out to get his Covid test (required before all his procedures next week). He said as he was walking out the door, "Well, I'm off to get my Chlamydia test. I hope I don't have chlamydia!" He's a weirdo!

K - Happy Thursday! Later!
