Now, there's a reason I didn't write my title as "The Good, The Bad and the Heartbreaking". I don't see a single bad part in having a pup. I know that when the end comes, it's always hard; it's heartbreaking. But it's never bad because I think all the time, where would my boys be, where would Jim and I be if we didn't have them!? And I'll take all the heartbreak, hard as it is, knowing that my heart got a little bigger having them (Zeke, Bubba, Sami, Boo, Scout, Libby, Georgie Girl, Scatter, Bonnie, Healy) in my life. And I'll always want to get that and give that again because it's what makes my life full.
And then I see the heartbreak that others go through way too soon. I'm speaking of my friend (mommy for my pups in absentia) Diane who is living that heartbreak right now. She's got Alice, a black lab only 7 years old who has been diagnosed with lymphoma. Any timeline on a pups life is way too short but 1-3 months isn't fair and I hate it for her. There's nothing you can say to make things easier. I just hope she keeps in mind every single second of the day that Alice has had the lovely life she's had these past 5 1/2 years because of the love she and Rick given to her. I hope that's enough for them because it's everything to Alice. It's all our pups live for; it's all they need. Keep them in your prayers because it's going to be heartbreaking.
