My head is pounding already and it's only 5:42. Ugh. This is what happens when I try to talk to Jim in the morning about things that need doing around the house. You see, my backyard is a soupy mess. And this is something that's not normal from previous years. I could try and blame it on the amount of rain that we've had over the last months but that's not it. There's a draining issue that needs fixing. We got an estimate yesterday for over $5000 so we'll be getting a couple more estimates. I truthfully have no idea what something like this could cost so maybe that's a reasonable estimate. However, what pisses me off about it is that the guy gave no detail in his write up for what this would entail and that's annoying. So Jim starts talking about what he "thinks" it will entail and I said, "That's all fine and good but I want it in writing. You can talk his ear off all you want but then send him out to his truck and tell him to put it in writing." Bring on the headache.
Storms yesterday weren't too terribly bad (other than the rain). We got some crazy hail but the winds weren't too gusty. We had tornado warnings but by the time the center of the storm hit our house, it had been downgraded to a thunderstorm warning. Which means I never went down to the basement. Although I did make Jim go down and ready my spot. The boys weren't bothered at all (storms don't scare them...thank the baby Jesus! One pup in a lifetime who's terrified of the slightest increase in wind is enough for this girl). In fact, in the thick of it all, Boo wanted to go outside. He had to poop. I know this because when he came up to me on the couch after barking at the door (I wouldn't let him out), he farted something fierce and he never farts. It was so stanky that I thought for a minute that he let a turd slip out. Thankfully the storms were moving quickly and I was able to let him out before we had an issue (or another bomb dropped on his momma!).
Oh, and with all the crazy weather last night, you may be wondering if I succumbed and had a relaxing glass of wine. Well, wonder no more...I sure did! After my head started pounding from worry, I popped open a brand new bottle and had a glass...just one and that's all I needed. Sometimes you just have to give in. I will say, however, that with all the crazy weather which seemed to keep coming and coming and coming, I never freaked out. I was quite calm considering.
And lets all just take a moment to thank the baby Jesus that we made it to Friday. I made it through the ACT administration on Tuesday (that was a cake walk), I made it through my new student (although we're still figuring that one out), I made it through my final evaluation of the year (still haven't heard anything), I made it through last nights storms, I made it through Jim's continuing illness (he woke up sneezing at 1:00 AM and had to go sleep downstairs...not my demand) and now here we are! I think with all that, I deserve a little break from teaching in science and history. I'm thinking Twister (we just finished a weather unit) and Fly Boys (for the WWI chapter we're currently on). I deserve it!
Oh, my Sirius radio trial ended. I was bummed. So I ordered it for another year. It was less than $100...it's worth it! I'm currently not listening to it much because I'm still addicted to the pod casts I've been listening to (currently Serial Podcast season one - the story of Adnan Syed) but when I have others in the car, it's nice to have music or whatnot.
Well, that's all I've got. Time to get a move on. Happy Friday. Tomorrow's brewery jaunt will be to Narrow Path which just happens to be down the hill in my neighborhood in Old Loveland. I've been there but Jim hasn't. He was still sick and not drinking when I went. Can't wait. K - I'm out...later!
