Midnight Massacre

Between the animals being attacked and screaming for their lives last night and my dogs losing their fucking minds as a result, I did not sleep well. I don't know what the animal was that was doing the attacking but I'm thinking raccoon. I also don't know what the animals were being killed but I'm guessing either bunnies or squirrels. Either way, their high-pitched, panicked screams were awful. Add to that Scout's shrieking and Boo's feral barking, I believe I've learned the lesson that I should close the curtains in my bedroom from now on. The actual slaughter didn't really happen at midnight. I heard one attack around 2:00 but the dogs must not have heard those screeches. There was a second occurrence at 3:15 which my dogs did hear and from that point on , they ran back and forth from our bed to the living room. Eventually I got my ass out of bed to douse them with the squirt bottle but that only quieted them for a minute. Ugh! It's going to be a rough day.

Add to all of that, my cough is awful. It's all in my chest now which is killing me and I dread having to read the last chapter of Harry Potter today. I'll power through but it's not going to serve me well for later. Thankfully the last chapter of the book isn't crazy long. I'm taking an extra bottle of water to school and I have some cough drops to help me out. Fingers crossed.

Jim ended up having to work 2nd shift last night. Apparently the color he was coving up (red) bled through so he had to do some touch ups. Then, when he got there they asked him to do their hallway as well. I believe that job is now done and he won't have to go back. I'm letting him sleep a bit longer today since he didn't get home until just after 11:00 last night.

Dinner tonight will be "bubble pizza". You make a pizza using cut up biscuits from a can in your cast iron skillet...kind of like monkey bread but pizza. I've made it before but it's been a while.

I got new lights for around my deck railings and I'm really liking them. They're solar and seem to have good power...so far. The ones I got a while ago were batter operated and the batteries didn't last long enough. These are string lights. I got two packs thinking I'd need that but I only needed one. I'll have to figure out where to put the other ones. Maybe along the fence or on the front deck. We'll see.

Okay, that's all I've got. Time to get a move on. Happy Wednesday. Later!
