Every now and then I dream that I'm back at the deli/liquor store (my favorite job ever) schlepping sandwiches and booze like I did in my 20s. Last night was one of those dreams. It was kind of nice. The only problem was I couldn't remember all the register codes for things like sandwiches and the self-serve sodas we sold. I kept having to shout out things like, "What's the code for a smoked turkey!?" or, "Do we have anymore Swisher Sweets?!" Additionally I was frustrated because my register had no quarters, pennies or singles. I couldn't give anyone change. But I was loving the busyness of it since it was the lunchhour rush. Oh, how I miss those days of no real work pressure. No kids skipping class, no kids acting like dicks, no political work bullshit. The biggest worry I had when I worked at the deli was if we'd cut enough ham for the lunch rush or did we make enough macaroni and cheese on Fridays during Lent to accompany the fish sandwiches. Unfortunately, the deli no longer exists and it looks like my bosses who owned all the stores at which I worked sold the businesses. Ah well, I can still go there in my dreams.
It's going to rain, rain, rain today and I'm not mad about it. Of course all this rain will mean that I'll have my work cut out for me when it dries enough to mow. I don't think I've mowed the front yard in about a month. It was just too dry and what was the point. After this though, it's going to need it bad. Plus the leaves are starting to fall so that will be my job for the next several weeks.
Last night my dinner was delicious. It was the
creamy sausage rigatoni, although I used tri-color rotini instead. It's a one-pot meal and so yummy and easy. It made lots of leftovers too so Jim will be happy. Tonight I'm making a
sausage veggie skillet, which I've made before and really like. It uses kielbasa (love) and zucchini and other yummy ingredients. Plus, pretty sure it's another one pot meal.
In school news, nothings happening. We had our first department meeting and it was fine. Mostly unnecessary but it was fine. No one pissed me off.
And that's all I've got. Time to go finish my toilette and hit the road. Later.
