So Productive

Not to toot my own horn but I kicked ass yesterday! First thing, I paid off Jim's truck! Toot! Then when I got home (after my routine) I paid my property tax (half of it), paid some other bills and then did my taxes! Toot toot! These things have been on my to-do list for a while now and it's just so good to check them off. Paying my property taxes gave me some heart palpitations but getting them paid (at least until July) felt good.

With all that off my list, I slept like a little baby! I turned out the light at 8:30 but had to pee at 10:30 and then again at midnight but each time I fell right back to sleep. (If you're wondering why I had to pee so much, well, I drank a lot of water and then tea before bed.) It was so nice to be awoken by my alarm. That rarely happens anymore.

I got some news yesterday that a former student died in a fire last Wednesday. She was only 34. She lived here and was a realtor but had bought a restaurant in Tennessee down near Norris Lake. Apparently she died in the restaurant. I don't know the details but the TBI is investigating. It's just so sad. She has a young daughter and I'm pretty sure the father moved out of state (he was a former student too). Her daughter was her life and it's just so heartbreaking. Of course I hadn't seen her since she graduated but from everything I could tell and from what others have said, she was a really wonderful person. I just don't understand the sense in this. Ugh!

Jim had his 6-month dermatology check yesterday. Or as Jim said to me yesterday morning, "My skin doctor's gets to look at me naked today." Yowza. I'm sure she looks forward to that every 6-months. Maybe that's why he's now on 9-month checks. Anyway, all went well.

Dinner tonight: Chicken and mushroom coconut chicken. I'm trying to recreate the dish I love at our Indian restaurant. I'm sure it probably won't be close but it certainly can't be bad. I'll serve it with broccoli and rice.

Kids are driving me crazy lately and I've had it. Yesterday when 5th bell started two of my "always late" kids walked once again walked it tardy. The first came in about 1 1/2 minutes late and when I asked him why he was once again late, he said, "I got stopped by J in the hall and had to talk to her." So I said, as I picked up my phone, "Okay, I'll text her to verify that." As I started to text, he said, "Okay, you got me. I wasn't talking to her." So put in a discipline referral.

Then, the 2nd kid came in about a minute later (so about 3 minutes late) and I said, "Why are you late...AGAIN?" He said, Mr. M had to talk to me after class about a presentation." So I emailed Mr. M to verify. Sure enough he replied with, "He wasn't with me." (And by the way, this kid has this teacher 3rd bell...if he'd stayed after class, he'd have been late for 4th bell...it was 5th bell! Dumb fuck! Why do these kids think I'm so stupid?) I emailed back and said, "He told he you had to talk to him about a presentation." He replied with, "Ha! Not true. And we don't have any presentations coming up." And so I put in a discipline referral.

My admin came in during class and slapped them both with lunch detentions...like they care. But here's the thing, from now on, I'm putting in referrals every time they're late. I'm done being nice. And you may say, "It's just a minute or a minute and a half or three minutes, Muir!" But they also lied. And they've also been warned. They know I'm a stickler about this. Dicks. And why do they lie so badly. I should school them that less is more. The more details you give the fishier it seems.

Okay on that note...guess I should get ready for work. Happy Tuesday! Later!
