Jim's appointment yesterday was fine. Just a lot of questions and tests and prep. When the anesthesiologist came in and talked to Jim about everything, Jim said, "I just don't want to poop on the table." I didn't know this was something that A) he was thinking about B) happened to anyone other then women giving birth and C) was actually something that COULD happen. Turns out, this IS something that could happen. The doc's reaction was pretty priceless. I mean, Jim meant it as a joke but the doc took it seriously and without breaking stride or cracking a smile, he said, "If it happens, you'll never know. We'll clean it up and never talk about it." All I could do was laugh and say (to the ridiculously young and handsome Doogie-like anesthesiologist), "He was kidding. Sorry about him."
Anyway, the appointment was kind of a smack in the face for what's coming and since then I've just been kind of pre-occupied with the "this-time-next-week" thoughts. I actually didn't wake up last night thinking about it but I'm pretty sure that's because Doug and Lauren came over for cards and I may have had a little bit to drink.
Earlier Jim was laying about in his recliner and he called out, "Honey!?!?" I looked over and he had his coffee mug raised up and was shaking it, obviously wanting a refill. I said, "You know what? No. I'm going to be doing a lot of favors for you over the next month and I don't want to burn myself out." Ha! Of course I was kidding.
Oh boy! The boys just went a little nuts. I guess I'd better get ready and take Scoutie for his walk. We're going to do the hills. He'll be happy...it's a nearly 4 mile walk. After that, I'll probably take a luxurious bath and then just take it easy until it's time to leave. We'll probably leave here around 3:00.
K - happy Thanksgiving! Later
