I Think We're Set For Winter

It's going to be a busy day for me. In fact it's been a bit of a busy weekend. As you can see, the majority of my weekend was spent splitting wood. It started on Thursday and I'm still not done. I've discovered that my cutoff for working is about 7 hours. That's when I start to be overly fatigued and start losing concentration which can then lead to injury. Thankfully I discovered this on Friday and stuck with it and didn't suffer any major injuries. I have a couple of scrapes and lots of bruises. Like I said, however, I'm still not finished so knock on wood.

BTW - the middle section where the tarp is, was already there.

So yeah, Friday while Jim was at work, I split wood starting around 9:00. Other than stopping for lunch I split through to about 3:30. It was slow going for me doing all the work (splitting, cleaning up while going and then stacking). I tried to do huge pieces only because I really didn't want Jim struggling with those once he was able to help.

Saturday Jim had to go into work for a few hours so once again, I was doing a lot of the work on my own until he got home around 11:00. Once he stepped in to stack and do clean up, we were on a roll. He was also able to set up two extra stacking spots. We finished at around 4:00.

Sunday was the real push and we got almost all of the work done. Jim was great in organizing the wood but also making sure not to overdo it. What's left now is mostly just smaller pieces that I should be able to crank out, however, I won't be able to get to it until around 3:00. That's okay though. A couple hours today, a couple tomorrow and I'm hoping we'll be all set. I'm pretty sure we'll have enough wood for a few years. I didn't anticipate all the wood we had but since two of our neighbors added their trees to our load, we were overloaded.

Here's what I can't believe: I actually feel pretty good today. I was shocked going to bed last night that my back wasn't killing me. There's a little soreness there but nothing major. My hands are probably the sorest part of my body and I have this weird stabbing pain in my right knee but that's been there periodically for the past several months. Nothing wood splitting related.

Plans today: When I finish this, I'll get on the elliptical and then give the boys a little walk. After a shower I'll head down to Good Sam to see Dad for a couple hours. I have a lunch at 1:00 at DeSha's and from there I'll come home to split until it's time for dinner. I promised Jim we'd go to Shooters for dinner tonight since we didn't get to go at all this weekend.

And that's about all I've got. Guess I better get a move on. Happy Monday. Later!
