GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS!!!

You obviously know who I'm talking about. Alex Murdaugh - convicted in the double murder of his wife and child! Justice has been done.

It was so crazy too. Yesterday, when I got home from school, Judge Newman was giving the jury their orders and then set them off to deliberate around 4 or 5? My thinking was they'd be figuring things out until, earliest, Monday. Boy was I wrong and pleasantly surprised. I went up to bed EARLY, (before 7:30, just to peruse the internet) and when I went onto Twitter, I saw a video that Sheryl Crow had posted of herself cooking dinner, freaking out because the verdict was in! I immediately called Maggie and tuned into the TV just in time to hear, "Guilty, Guilty, Guilty, Guilty!!!" It was unbelievable. In 3 hours the jury came through with the proper verdict.

Of course I then stayed up too late in order to watch the press conference with the prosecution. What a wonderful win for them. Knowing what they must have been going through these last 6 weeks (year and a half, really) in preparation. No sleep, little food, overwhelming stress. Good for them! Good guys won!

Today at 9:30 they are having the sentencing. It was actually pretty funny last night. After the verdict was read, the judge said something along the lines of, "Now, we need to complete this process with sentencing but I understand that there will be people who the prosecution and defense will want to have their say so what do you think would be a proper timeline?" I'm thinking they'll set the sentencing for a month away or something like that but Creighton Waters (lead prosecutor) says, "I can be ready at 9:30 tomorrow morning." It was amazing! And even better Judge Newman is apparently a tough judge who gives harsh sentences.

Of course I have an IEP meeting at 9:30 today. UGH! I don't think the parent is going to show so I'll be sure to speed things along (and I might have my earbud in my ear with Youtube on my phone).

Okay to end - here's one funny from one of my students: A kid in class who LOVES to tell stories (that are obviously false), Stinky, is telling another of his tall tales yesterday and I'm listening out of the side of my ear and another student says to him, "I love it when you tell stories. They crack me up. " I couldn't help it; I burst out laughing. He's so obviously a liar

Okay well, time to head up and then out. I'll probably be driving back roads today because the deluge of rain has started and I don't want to deal with the traffic and dumb asses. Happy Friday!!! Later!
