Here We Go Again

I don't think I've mentioned it but I've been having tooth issues...AGAIN! It's a bit different this time, however. The last time I went to get a cleaning, I was having issues with hot and cold and the tooth (one that has a crown) just didn't feeling right. Dr. Sherman, at that time, adjusted my bite and it was 100% better! Recently, I've had tenderness at that tooth. It's worse when I wake up. If I touch my tongue to that tooth I REALLY feel it. Not a screamable pain but a medium-loud groan. When I sleep - and maybe this has been my issue and the source of my headaches...hmm - I wake up and it's the first think my mind goes to.

This morning when I woke up, it was the worst the pain has been and I thought, "Okay...I've got to deal with this." I sent a message to my dentist and I'll call first thing. Here's the issue though: They've taken x-rays and not seen anything so is it an infect root? Is it something that got under my crown? I don't know if I got straight to an endodontist or have my dentist check it out again. UGH! I guess he'll let me know when I call today. And...last time I tried to go to the endodontist he referred me too, after waiting a month to get in, I found out they didn't take my insurance anymore. We do have new insurance now so maybe that will help. I don't know. I'm just sick of constantly thinking about my tooth and not being able to eat right.

In other news: I've been thinking for a while about how burnt out I am at school. I feel like I'm just wandering through my days like a robot. I'm sick of having so many preps (LA, science, history) along with my caseload of kids and after 22 years (going on 23) I'm spent and don't see myself making it to 35. So one of thing I've been contemplating is asking to "create" a new class; one that focuses on daily living skills with my kids. A class that teaches the basics of cooking and maybe sewing and shopping and saving and stuff like that. Since we've had a "transition" class in the past, I don't know that I would have to get the class approved if I called it that but I would certainly want it to be different from what it once was. I want to get these kids to learn actual skills they'll need to live independently one day. The problem here is I want it to be a 2 bell class and I'd want to actually set up a classroom with the items/appliances needed: A sink, stove, countertops. I wrote out a sort of proposal last night and I want to talk to my sped admin to see what he thinks but if I know anything about my school, I'm going to get shot down. I don't want to go into this with a negative attitude but experience tells me...

So one thing I want to do before proposing this is to poll the kids and see if any of them would want to take a class like that. I'll put a survey together this morning and send it out.  I just feel like every time they create a class in our school, it's for the "smart" kids. It's always a new honors class or AP class. Or Engineering or Biomedical Science. They took away all the classes that were geared toward students NOT headed to college like Wood Shop and Independent living. It's so frustrating. Well, we'll see.

Not much else to talk about. I'm hoping to get this figured out with my tooth this morning. Fingers crossed I can see someone soon.

K - happy Wednesday. Later!
