School news: It's the last day for kids today with only one exam so most kids will be GONE by 10:00! Woot! I have done a really good job in getting my list checked off and have only 2 IEPs to write and the chapter questions to prepare for the next book we'll read in LA when we return. I would expect that most of this can get done today which sort of sucks because then what am I going to do tomorrow?! However, I have PLENTY to do in terms of preparing my Biology class for 2nd semester so I won't be sitting there twiddling my thumbs.
Yesterday as I was sitting talking to the paras in my room getting ready for the day to start, one of the students I have from the MH classroom in my Biology class came in to give me a gift. This is the kid who looks like one of those really tall dancing men they have at car washes or whatever. He's autistic and reminds of a dancing flamingo with his long legs and how he prances around...especially when he's nervous. Anyway, he comes in, prances over to my desk, throws a note and box of chocolates at me, rambles on saying something like, "HereyougoMrs.Hankethanksforbeingmyteacher!" (he's a really fast mumbly talker) and then hightails it right back out the door. The funny thing about this is, he was going to be coming right back into my room for his exam. Jim's going to his Christmas Party today and then heading to Clifton to hang with his brother which means tonight I'll be eating leftovers and hanging with my pups and making French cakes.
