So I mentioned in my post yesterday that I had some swelling of my right eye, right? Well, it didn't get better as the day went on. In fact as the morning progressed I continued to get more and more itchy. By lunch time, as I was eating, at one point I reached back to scratch my neck and realized I had hives all over my neck and into my scalp. (Later they moved onto my legs and butt!) I said, to my ladies, "I'm going go have the nurses look at this." So I did. I explained to them what I'd been dealing with over the last weeks and also said I'd been on amoxicillin. They gave me a Benadryl and had me sit so they could monitor me. At that point my lips started tingling and I started freaking out a little. I called into my GP to see what they thought I should do. They said, "Go to the ER." So one of my school nurses drove me over (I could have walked but was feeling dizzy) and within 10 minutes I was in a room being treated.
The doc is pretty sure that I have a low risk allergy to penicillin. Not anaphylactic but enough of one to make sure I don't take it anymore. He dosed me up with another antihistamine (as well as prescribing me some as needed for itching and hives), gave me a bit old dose of solumedrol and then prescribed me with 5 days of prednisone. I hate being on steroids but I'll deal with it if it means this shit goes away. Needless to say, I'm no longer taking the amoxicillin. I still have a little swelling on my right eyelid but all my hives are gone and I'm not itchy. I'm hoping for an easy day today.
Something sad: Yesterday Jim and I were watching the news and they reported an 4-car accident on 75 S that had the highway shut down. It was in the exact spot I loathe where drivers exit to either 275 S or N (maybe E or W) going toward either Indy or Columbus. Drivers are such assholes here because they cut other drives off right at the last minute to get into the correct lane. It's so dangerous and people are constantly having to slam on their brakes. Well, in the accident yesterday there was one fatality. It ends up the man killed was the Atheletic Director for Sycamore and the man that one of the ladies I eat lunch with was dating a couple weeks ago. (They weren't dating anymore.) The double whammy about all this is that he has 2 kids in high school and he lost a son in 2022. I mean...what the mother fuck!? The report is that he was in the right lane (I'm sure to exit onto 275 N) slammed into the car in front of him, lost control, crossed over the left 3 lanes and then slammed into another car and a semi. No one else was injured. Who knows if the other car cut him off or he cut someone off or what but people need to slow the fuck down!!!
Dinner tonight will be leftovers...we just have too much in the fridge.
The icemaker in my fridge is acting like an asshole. The cubes seem to be getting stuck. Dammit! I tried resetting and it will push off the cubes that are stuck and then make more ice but then it gets stuck again. Guess I'll have to call a repair person.
Okay well, that's enough stupid shit for one day. Happy Thursday! Ooh, tomorrow is Friday! One more week until Spring Break. Later!
