Happy Valentine's Day!

Jim and I never celebrate this day...we're just not that couple. Here's a funny though: When I came downstairs after my shower today, Jim was sitting in his chair watching the news and I said, "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!" And he said, "OH! Yeah! Happy Valentine's Day." Then I said, "I got you a little something." Jim's response was, "WHAT!?!? NO!!!" Haha! That shit's funny! (I didn't really get him anything, I just wanted to freak him out. It worked.) 

When I was a kid, my mom always made a bit of a deal for Valentine's day. My favorite one was when she put together a scavenger hunt for us. She planted little clues throughout the house which eventually led us to our gift. It was never a big gift, just something fun. That year she gave me a Ziggy mug and I loved it. I wonder what ever happened to that mug. I think it was glass. I probably broke it. I think that was actually the year she was out of town, having gone to Richmond to see Richard, prior to them marrying. Funny the things I remember. (I think she hid my gift in my secretary.) 

Yesterday was really sublime. It was a much needed day to get the week started on the right track. I can definitely get through these next few days until the weekend. I'm not sure I'll get through Friday and that stupid in-service day but we'll see...fingers crossed.

Dinner last night was delicious (Coq au vin with chicken meatballs). Maggie's making it tonight for dinner and I'm sure it will be a hit like it was for Jimmy. Dinner tonight will be something with Mahi Mahi, green beans and probably rice. 

Do you people speak for your dogs? For instance, Boo just came in from being outside and when he came, he remembered to bring his duck back. He dropped it and looked at me so I said (in Boo's sweet voice), "Mom? I brought my duck in!" So I replied, "You good boy!" And then I gave him a little treat and he replied with, "Thanks Mom!" He then ran upstairs. He's very polite and always says thank you. I love him.

I got a text yesterday morning from one of the ladies I lunch with that said something like, "Fuck that! I'm not taking a pie to the face!" I was quite confused and so sent a text back saying, "What's going on? I'm not at school today." Apparently our principal announced yesterday that there was a fundraiser coming up where students could nominate a teacher or admin to take a pie to the face. Uh, yeah, nope. Feel free to nominate yourself but that's not my idea of fun. I'll pass. Idiot. I mean, who just puts that out there without talking to the staff first? 

Sometimes I hate my computer. For reasons unknown to me, it will randomly switch the default browser to Yahoo rather than Google and it ticks me off! I then have to go into "settings" and switch it back. I always delete the Yahoo search engine but it eventually reinstalls itself. I'm not tech savvy enough to figure out why this keeps happening. Arg! 

Okay well, time to get a move on. I'm not sure how much grading I have to do today because I'm pretty sure I didn't have a sub for my ELA classes. Fine with me...less to catch up on.
