I Wasn't Wrong

I know I can sometimes be a little cynical and a little critical about the higher ups in my job. Twenty-three years in education, however, watching admins come and go; watching fads come and go; sitting through training for said fads only to find it never gets off the ground; basically having my time continually wasted can lead a person to question the abilities of admins. They never follow through on their "big ideas" and it's frustrating. Yesterday was no different. I sat, for 3 hours, in training that could have taken a half hour to explain...okay maybe an hour. Instead they wasted my time with little activities (write three behaviors on separate post-it notes and decide if its a tier 1, tier 2, tier 3 blah blah blah). I tried to have a good attitude. I tried to participate but 20 minutes in I realized I was going to get nothing out of the training. It basically turned into a bitch fest for the elementary teachers to discuss the kids causing them headaches. I DON'T CARE!!! They A) shouldn't have trained the elementary teachers with the JH/HS teachers and B) they should have saved the money on subs to train us on a PD day. Stupid.

You'll all be happy to know that Jim's truck is fixed and back in our driveway. It was ready yesterday afternoon so we picked it up around 5:00 last night and then went out to dinner at Napa. A little treat. I was going to get takeout tonight but will cook instead (cheddar ranch burgers, fries and green beans).

Oh, here's a funny. So last night we sat at the bar and a waitress came up to order a drink from the bartender for her table. She said, "She wants a lychee martini" and then she said, "Is it 'litchee' or 'lie-chee'?" I said, "I think it's 'lie-chee'." And then as I was watching GBBO this morning, one of the contestants was using lychee in his recipe. Isn't that weird? BTW - I've never had lychee but the guy on GBBO said once peeled it looks and feels like eyeballs. Hmm...

Today I'll be back in the classroom finally. I'll be reading chapter 2 of SLOB and I hope I can make it through. I've got this weird cough thing and by the end of yesterday I'd started to go hoarse. Fingers crossed.

And that's all I've got. No real plans this weekend except to mulch the leaves Saturday. Hopefully it will be dry enough by then. Lots of rain Sunday so I need to get it done. Jim might have to work Saturday which is fine since he took yesterday off.

K - Happy Friday. Happy weekend. Later!
