Reality Bites

Who can believe that 2 weeks from today, I'll be sitting in the high school auditorium listening to some bozo speak about the latest focus and fad for the coming school year?! I can't believe it. I also can't believe I've only been to PIB one time this year. However, on a bright note, 1 week from today, I'll be sitting at PIB most likely sipping a mimosa and gazing out at the lake with a whole week of relaxation in my future. I'll keep that in my mind rather than the latter!

The weekend was good. Much of it was spent just making lists and thinking about what needed to be done in preparation for going back to PIB. Saturday Jim and I did some clean up. I cleaned off the front deck and sprayed the outside of the house with bug repellent. Around this time of year the house gets a lot of spiders taking up residence and Muwee doesn't do spiders! Jim in the meantime, did a deep clean of the Florida room and it looks amazing. When he got up on Sunday (long before I did, in fact I slept until 7:00 on both Saturday and Sunday!) he went in and hung out with the boys while enjoying his coffee as it rained. He said it was lovely. The boys love having a clean Florida room in which to chase each other. We'll see how long it stays clean.

I have some disappointing news. You all may have heard. I did NOT win the lottery on Friday. I know! It's a shock. I was sure I had the winning ticket. I was already spending my winnings and writing my letter of resignation (which went something like this: Dear So-and-So, I quit. Suck it!). I guess I'll have to keep slogging through the next 13 years at school until retirement. Bummer.

Speaking of jobs, Jim's former boss called him on Friday and has offered him a job (doing the same thing he's doing now). Here's the upside: It would be for at least the same pay (Jim's trying for more) with vacation and paid holidays. He'd be guaranteed a full 40-hour work week (at his current job they don't' always have a place to send him, which is annoying because then he doesn't get his 40 hours in). Already that's better than what he's getting. However, he would not be in the union and so wouldn't be paying into a pension. I don't know if that would even be worth, however, considering things. He's supposed to talk to the guy again today to get a bit more info. I told him that I'm on board with him taking the job. Fingers crossed. I think Jim would like this.

So today's agenda really only has one major item on it: Ikea! I've already walked the boys, I'll go do some yoga in a minute and then get my shower and head out the door. My goal at Ikea is to get new dishes (white) for the Bay along with glassware. I also need to get a silverware separator, a small stepstool and whatever else I may see which I feel is needed. I'll have to stay laser focused not to go crazy! Ikea can really suck you in and spit you out with quite the dent in your pocketbook.

Okay so with that in mind, I'd best mosey. Happy Monday! Oh, dinner tonight is Italian braised pork chops, broccoli and couscous. Later!
