The move-in, however, was not great! It was almost as though, when Maggie and I arrived, our contractor, Dave was unaware that we were coming. This wasn't in fact true, we had texted back and forth. However, the panic that seemed to set in his eyes upon our arrival said something different. For one thing, he didn't realize we would be spending the night (Uh, dude! You know we're from Cincinnati!) and so there was a mad rush on his part to get his wife in to clean the room we would be sleeping in as well as the bathroom and kitchen. All of this while about a dozen workers milled in and out of the house working to complete the job. Siding isn't complete (as you can see from the pictures), trim work needs finishing, fixtures in bathrooms weren't up (we were without any mirrors all week) and the window screens weren't in (that had to happen ASAP because the bugs were ridiculous). The actual moving in of furniture wasn't bad. So much had been tossed when packing up that we were down to the bare minimum. I think the guys and I had the truck unloaded within an hour or so. Team work makes the dream work!
Once everything was unloaded it was discovered that one of the king sized beds and a queen was tossed as well as a fridge that was going to be kept in the garage for spillover (drinks, food etc.) since we now only have one fridge in the kitchen. This meant that on Wednesday, Maggie and I did a mad rush of purchasing on Amazon to replace things. In the end, we decided to turn the former twin bedroom into a queen since the loft now has 5 single beds and a full. This means that the house now has 2 king-sized bedrooms and 2 queen-sized. Additionally we purchased a daybed with trundle to go into the new area created by joining the house and the garage. We also had to buy a new TV with mount since the one we had looks tiny in the great room (we got a 65"). And finally we got a fridge/freezer. There is still so much that needs purchasing (furniture like a couch - would love a sectional - plus more seating, rugs etc.) This will happen in time, I'm sure. So yeah, I got home yesterday around 1:00 and was exhausted. I made dinner for Jimmy and I, walked my babies (I missed them so much...Scout couldn't seem to stop kissing me) and then I settled in and went to bed.
My plan over the next week is to get some needed things for the Bay before going back up on the 7th. I'll probably head to Ikea on Monday and get some dishes (we only have one set now) and glassware (we have almost none now). Bedding and bath needs have been taken care of by Becky and Anne so we should be set there. There are little knickknacks that are needed which I'll try and pick up (silverware drawer separator, a message board, paper pads and pens). My car will be packed!
Today is going to be fairly relaxing. I've walked the boys and will mow the lawn here in a minute. Jim's going to try and get out of work early so we can meet at Shooters for lunch. I might take a bike ride afterward too. The humidity is supposed to drop significantly so it should be a lovely afternoon ride. Dinner tonight will be taco salads.
The only plan for the weekend is Sunday we're all heading over to Raeburn for some swimming and family time. Cullen is in town so that will be fun! Can't wait to see him.
