R.I.P. Molly Longbody

One of the sweetest, funniest, longest, loviest, howliest little pups there ever was made her way over the rainbow bridge yesterday. To say that her passing will leave a huge hole in Trip, Susan and J.J.’s world is the biggest understatement of the century.

Molly (AKA Pup-pup, Longbody, Sissy and so many more names) was the quintessential Basset Hound: Gentle, social, devoted, amazing with kids, every dog's friend and holy moly could she be stubborn. If she didn’t get her way, her raspy little bark/howl would let you know right away that you were going to pay until you gave her what she wanted. She was the perfect big sissy to her sports-loving brother, J.J.. When she was in her prime, it was a daily thing to see the two of them in the backyard playing baseball with J.J. hitting balls and Molly chasing. And considering her short little legs, man was she fast! She could out-chase any of her long-legged cousins, no problem.

If you knew Molly, you loved Molly. There was just something about her that you couldn’t NOT adore. Her dinner-plate paws, her enormous ears (that were constantly filthy for her walking on them), her giant snout, her loving heart…she was the perfect little Pup Pup!

I know how hard it is to lose a member of the family like this. She will forever be in Trip, Susan and J.J.’s heart and they’ll think about her and miss her always. J.J. has lived his whole life with her…she was his Sissy…she’s never NOT been in his world. I know how hard this must be for him but what she was to him in his life, he’ll carry that forever. He’ll remember her forever. When he’s a dad someday, he’ll be able to tell his own kids about Molly and how special she was and he’ll be able to pass that kind of devotion down because he got to experience it with her. There is no greater gift that a puppy can give to us and I hope he lets that comfort him as he mourns her passing. Our fur

babies are never with us long enough but Molly had 16 amazing years. She was one of a kind and we were all lucky to know her, love her and be loved by her. Rest in peace sweet girl, you stole our hearts and will always be there.
