So today was a winner of a day! Why?! I don't know...it was just a good day Because it's Christmas Eve? Maybe. Because even though Covid sucks and we're all dealing with a LOT (some more than others) we're all okay and muddling through and that's always a positive! And it's only 3:37 and there's a lot more "day" left!
Here's what happened today: I woke up (always a good day when I wake up) and fed the dogs, drank some coffee, watched some shitty news (didn't let that get me down) and then made a delicious breakfast (hash browns, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, toast and mimosas). After that Jim and I relaxed for about a half hour (I did some puppy sweater knitting) and then we walked the dogs. Once I got home, I directed Jim to head out and do his shopping (I gave him a 1 1/2 hour window, which meant 2 hours) while I made tomorrow's dinner: Julia Child's Boeuf Bourguignon. It's a long process and I thought - better to get it done today so tomorrow can be a nice, relaxing, lazy day. (Plus it tastes better when it's marinated for a bit). I then got on the elliptical (because there's going to be a lot of bad eating and drinking in the next couple days and Muwee needs to work some of that shit off) and showered. Jim was home by then so we gathered up our empty keg from Little Miami and headed down for a couple beers and an exchange. It's a $75 deposit so after a few beers, lunch and a few purchases of some crowlers for our neighbors, we broke even. (Although Joe Stamm did us a solid and didn't charge us properly).
I'm now sitting here with dinner on the stovetop (Brunswick stew) and listening to my fave holiday music: Do They Know It's Christmas? (my fave Christmas tune), Nat King Cole and some Messiah. Jim's wrapping presents (he's such a procrastinator) and I'll soon have a fire in the fireplace.
And here's why things are lovely: I know things are REALLY different this year but I know that soon, things will be back to the crazy hustle and bustle. While I can, I'm going to enjoy to slowness of things and hope that when this is all over we can pick up where we left off...sort of. With a better appreciation of things though, right?
Okay - I gotta go crack a whip under Jim's ass because I don't have my fire laid yet and it's getting freakin' COLD out there. Merry Christmas! I miss my family but I'm so happy we all still have each other...love you all!
