And So It Starts

So get this: Remember I had a meeting Monday regarding the student in my class with the lunatic mother - Luna? Here's the big problem Luna is having: Her son wants to listen to his earbuds WHILE I'M TEACHING! That's right, while I'm reading aloud from our novel, he'll have his earbuds listening to music, "because it calms him". (What the fuck ever!) Obviously no one thinks that is appropriate. So in the meeting student's caseload manager was told, "Tuesday, discuss with student the policy and that during instructional time, devices and earbuds need to get put away as per Mrs. Hanke's directive and then after, he can listen to music." (As every student is allowed to do in my class.)

Fast foward to yesterday. My class starts with student and he's got his earbuds in and his phone out (as do a couple other kids) so I make my announcement about putting things away as class has started. My other kids do what they're told and the student in question doesn't. So I say, "[name] I need you to put those things away." He turns around and yells at me, "I NEED YOU TO GO TALK TO MR. M!" So I calmly (on the outside) say, "No, I need YOU to go talk to Mr. M." He gets up to leave and I add, "And don't you ever talk to me that way again."

So he leaves and I email the "team" and say, "Guess the discussion didn't happen?" And I get an email back from the case manager that says, "Oh, yeah, that's on me. I forgot to have the convo with student." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? So of course the kid goes down to the office and fucking CRIES for 10 minutes about me. (Yes, a 17-year old JUNIOR in HIGH SCHOOL cried because he couldn't wear his earbuds!) And then he goes out to his ride (he leaves after my bell which is an early release), Luna, who doesn't even make it out of the parking lot before she turns around to storm BACK into the office and make a scene. Now, this is a woman who has had cease and desist letters sent to her about different circumstances here at school. Additionally she's periodically been blocked from being allowed into the school building or on the property except to pick up her son. When her kid was at the career center, she had to be physically removed by their resource officer. It's ridiculous.

And then I check FB because she has a public page. I've been checking to make sure nothing comes on there about me. I wake up this morning to a post saying, "I need prayers. Son's special education English teacher is given him a hard time and the school will not remove him from the class! The past two days i picked him up from school he was crying. Please pray kings removes him from this teacher!! Thanks." Obviously I took a screen shot of this and sent it to my admins saying I'm not putting up with this. Fucking ridiculous.

Now, who am I most angry with? My supposed colleague who can't seem to do his job. I mean, fine, if you want to slack and dick around with your job when it only affects you, great! But when you fuck around and it affects me and my reputation and my sanity!? I will fucking kick your ass! And did he apologize? Nope. Mother fucker!

And yes, I know that anyone who talks to this woman would know within 30 seconds that she's a legit raving lunatic but when she calls the state (like she did last year) to make a complaint about a speech teacher saying he abused her son, the state doesn't necessarily know she's nuts. They open an investigation. And if that happens with me, well, it better fucking NOT happen to me!

We'll see what happens today. I'll be surprised if the kid shows up to my class. I'm guessing he won't. We'll see.

Sorry about that rant but I think it was justified!

Happy Wednesday (may need a glass of wine tonight). Stay healthy and free of virus and clear of crazy people.  Later!
