Working Weekend

The weekend was an extravaganza of yard work and I should be sore but I'm really not which is a miracle.

So here's the rundown of what we did:

  • Saturday Jim and I went early to Lowes and got all our flowers etc.
  • I planted everything on my back deck while Jim worked on the front yard.
  • Jim's main objective was to get as much of the dirt he had delivered, spread (he got 6 cubic yards!) He managed to finish the retaining wall that he built in the backyard and got the hostas in front (where the deck will go) transplanted.
  • Yesterday I moved a tree. There's a Japanese maple that's in our front bed (where the deck will go) that we've had since moving in. We've transplanted it before but that was when it was still tiny. It's now about 15 feet tall and man oh man was it a chore. Thankfully, with the help of Doug and Lauren, I managed to get it dug out and replanted (it looks so pretty). Jim didn't think it could be done! Hopefully it survives the shock...we'll see.
  • After that, I realized the grass needed cut so I cut the front and back yard.
  • (BTW - I also walked Scout 5 miles yesterday)
  • From there I scrubbed the back deck because there were muddy puppy paw prints all over.
  • I was going to go take a bath at this point but Jim was in the weeds with dirt so I shoveled dirt into wheelbarrows while Jim wheeled them to the backyard. I think I did about 15-20 loads...back breaking work.
  • Shower
  • Dinner
  • Bed!!!

And of course I slept like shit. I had about a hundred hot flashes and tossed and turned from midnight to about 4:00. Thankfully I don't have much going on today (meeting at 10:00). I'm going to go walk the dog now and hopefully beat the rain. We're supposed to get a shitload so Jim's going to try and get as much dirt spread before that.

Other than that I see paperwork and final school stuff in my future. And a nap.

K - Happy Monday...not sure about dinner...stay healthy. Later!
