Education Budget Cuts

Yesterday the state of Ohio cut $300 million from public schools. The reduction for my district is $875,000 from THIS school year's budget. They don't know how much will be reduced for next school year. Does this make a lick of sense? EDUCATION cuts!? Really? Ugh! I tell you, I know of A LOT of areas where my district spends needlessly but why is education always the first place to get screwed? And Medicaid? Unbelievable. Not sure what this will mean but it's a sad day for our kids.

On to happier news: It's Friday! And I have only 1 week left of "classes" and two weeks of school. I can't tell you how excited I am to have this remote learning thing be OVER! (Not sure what will happen come August...we could be back where we are now but I'm hoping not!) It's just so frustrating not being able to have face to face time with kids. It sucks to not be able to touch base with them when I need to and jump on their case when they're being lazy gits! So yeah, YAY for Friday and YAY for the end of school being near.

It's a rainy day here in Cincy. Supposed to rain solidly until 3:00ish. Scout is pissed. He's looking forward to going on a walk and I just don't know when or if that will happen. I'll keep checking radar to see if we get a window.

On a random side note: I like James Spader...don't get me wrong and I don't like making comments about people's looks but that guy has NOT aged well.

I started watching another series on Netflix: The Sinner. Not bad. I'm two episodes in and really starting to get intrigued.

The bread I made yesterday turned out REALLY yummy! I did things a little differently this time around. First I let my mixer knead it a lot longer - about 10 minutes. Then when I baked it, I put it in at 475 with the lid on my Dutch oven for 30 minutes, then reduced the heat to 375 and baked for another 15 with the lid off. It was crunchy on the outside, fluffy and light on the inside and DEEEELICIOUS! My next "make" is going to be WW chocolate donuts! (I just bought donut pans and am excited to try them out.) The recipe is just a box of sugar free brownie mix and a can (little less) of diet coke and egg whites. A perfect choclate snack with my tea at night! Yum!

On another note: Jim and I are having a deck built onto the front of our house. Just a simple Trex deck. A nice place to sit and hang rather than sit in the driveway. It will be simple, no railings, just a clean look. I'm sure once that's done we'll need a new front door. It should happen around the end of June and I can't wait. Now I need to shop for some nice rockers for it!

Okay - I've rattled on long enough. My next meeting isn't until 11:00 so I'll go get my elliptical on. Happy Friday! Deep freeze tonight...dammit! Ready for warm weather!!! K - stay healthy...later!
