Venting

I love Jim, I do...don't let the following information make you think I don't but I've said it before and I'll say it again - he is a tough patient!

For instance - with all that is going on, I'm still trying to manage my own life, right? Work, the house, puppies, plus doing all the things I normally do (cook, grocery shop etc.) while picking up the slack for Jim. Add to that the "nursing" tasks I'm doing...it's no wonder I'm exhausted at the end of the day and I've been sleeping like the dead since this all started. With all that in mind, here's what's irking me today:

Jim can't get his socks on by himself and he MUST wear his compression socks because his ankles and legs are still CRAZY swollen. So yesterday he decided to take his shower before I left so I could get his socks. Great! No problem! However, he proceeded to take FOREVER in the shower and then had to go to the bathroom and there I am ready to go and I can't because I still haven't put Jim's socks on. I ended up at school about 15 minutes later than I like to be there (and remember how much I love routine!). So this morning I asked him if he was going to shower before I left. He said yes so I said, "Well, I need to be there a little earlier than normal so don't dilly dally." (I said it nicely, by the way, without attitude.) He said, "I'm going to get up in a minute and get going." Great! And then he proceeded to sit there for 15 minutes...sipping coffee and watching a muted TV. ARG!!! Dude! Throw me a bone! Just humor me! Remember how much I'm doing for you and ONE TIME! ONE TIME! Do something for me!

Am I crazy here? Am I absolutely unreasonable to expect anything of him? I mean I know he's sick but he's not completely helpless and he's not a total invalid.

Did I mention that my cousin Lisa contacted me and asked what she could do for me? I told her she can give me a break by going to dinner with me to get me out of the house. So, we're going to dinner Monday (with Anne as well)! Can't wait.

K - well, I best get going. I hear Jim rattling around upstairs and I'm sure he's waiting, no so patiently, for me to put his socks on. Sorry that was mean.

Happy Wednesday - God, isn't this week over yet? Later!
