A Long Road Back

I can't tell you how much of a relief having Jim home has been. His mind is so much more at ease here and he hasn't needed to take an anxiety pill but 2 times since being home. There are certainly challenges with all he's going through but we will muddle through, get him through and hopefully be through on the other side in the near future.

Side note: Please know that I'm NOT complaining at all when you read the following...I'm just telling the facts but some of them can be...well, lets just say my patience is sometimes tested by Jim's confusion.

So Jim's on a TON of meds. I think beyond the insulin (one which is at meals and then another that's 1 time daily, slow acting), he's taking (at least two times per day) 7 other drugs. (It was pretty amusing when the pharmacist filled them.) The problem with all of this is that Jim can't keep it straight for when he has to take what. I've put everything into a daily pill container, divided into morning and evening but there are a few things that can't go in it. Additionally, when he's taking insulin, he asks me 17 times what to do and how much to take. This morning alone, when he was injecting himself with the 1 time a day insulin, he asked me 4 times how much he gets. AND! The sheet with drug amounts and instructions were right next to him. I'm trying to be patient and I don't get mad but I worry about what he'll do when I'm at work. The only thing he really needs to worry about is the stuff that's taken 5 times a day and then his insulin.

Additionally, his poor ankles are still huge. He has elephant legs, no joke. It's quite disturbing to look at but they don't seem to hurt him anymore.

Today he has a 2:40 doctors appointment. I thought about taking a half day but decided against it. I'll ask my colleague if she can watch my class...hopefully she'll throw me a bone. I'll have to race home and get Jim - who will hopefully be ready - and race down to Red Bank. Fingers crossed that his labs come back okay. My biggest worry is that they'll tell us he needs to go to the hospital again. I think if that happened Jim would lose his shit. Not that I think it will happen. I think things are fine but you never know.

Okay - well, I'm actually excited to go to work...just to get a little break but of course I'm going to worry all day long about how he's doing. I've already warned him that he MUST have the phones next to him at all times.

Okay - well I best get a move on. I need to get myself ready and then give Jim a review before I leave. Happy Monday! Fingers crossed that things go well at the docs. Later!
