Baby Step By Baby Step

Yesterday was a good day. I was worried about Jim much of the day but he did well and managed to administer all his own pills without incident (he only had to call me once about his insulin). I took off from work during our last bell to make Jim's 2:40 appointment and the doc/CNP seemed pleased with his progress. We'll know for sure later this morning if Jim's levels are continuing to go down. If they do, we'll be able to lower his steroid dose. As his steroid dose lowers, the other meds he's on should decrease as well. My biggest desire for Jim is to have the lactulose removed from his list of drugs (this is working to lower his ammonia levels). This is given 3 times a day and it makes it difficult for me to go to sleep easily at night because Jim likes to stay downstairs later than I do. When he does, he of course falls asleep and then I have to get up, get him up, make him come upstairs and ensure he has his phone with alarm set to wake him up later for his next dose. It's annoying.

Jim was VERY emotional yesterday and he was told by Jill (nurse) that he needs to regularly take his Valium (he had only been taking it sporadically). She stated while he's on steroids he's going to be an emotional mess and there's not a reason why he has to suffer like that. I wonder if it'd be okay if I take one as well? JK...I'm fine.

Anyway, after his appointment we decided to go out for dinner and Jim FINALLY got his steak! We went to Silver Spring House and it was delicious! I had pot pie...never had their pot pie before and YUM! When we got home, we hung out with the pups and enjoyed a nice, relaxed night at home.

Today Jim is going to attempt to go out and about with Fritz. He'll come pick Jim up and they'll do some shopping. I'm a bit worried that he's going to overdo it (he can't walk well with his ankles so swollen) but I he is an adult and needs to listen to himself for a change instead of me always hounding him. Of course if I come home and he's a disaster and I have to pick up the pieces, I'll be annoyed.

And that's about all I've got. I need to go help Jim get his compression socks on so I'd best mosey. Happy Tuesday...later!
