Breezy

It's really, really windy out there...so lovely. Perfect fall day in store for us. Can't wait to get home to enjoy it! So happy it's the weekend!

No real plans this weekend except to relax and watch the game on Sunday. It'll be the first Sunday in about a month that we've been out there. I'm hoping it will change our luck. Especially against the winless Browns.

School is school. Nothing major going on. I have a parent I'd been trying to get in touch with to schedule an IEP (phone calls, emails, her daughter sent her texts) but was getting no response. Finally yesterday I had her daughter call her with me there and we finally managed to talk. Her mother works two jobs and can't meet before 3:00. She asked that I just have the meeting without her and send the IEP home. Cool! I'll be getting that done today.

We had a lock down drill yesterday and it opened up a lot of discussion with the kids on how to deal with an active shooter. I told them that from any room they're in throughout the building, they should always have an escape route. I told them they should know what doors exit where, what windows on the 2nd floor lead to the roof, and understand the labeled hallways. It's such a morbid thought but we've been told that at this point it isn't an "if it happens" but rather a "when". I told the kids that they're main goal in a situation like that is to get out and get safe. I told them that if someone came into our room wielding a gun that they should throw any and all things at them - desks, chairs, microwave whatever they have at hand. I told them they should bob and weave if ever confronted with someone holding a gun - don't stand still. Crazy to have these conversations with the kids but better safe than sorry!

Jim's up and out already. He's working downtown but has a 3:30 appointment so he had to get there
early.

And that's all I've got. Life is fairly boring for me right now, which is just fine with me but certainly doesn't make for exciting posts. Happy Friday (this time last week we were just past Dayton...sad face). Later!
