What Is Wrong With People?

Why do people with kids move with 2 weeks left in the school year?  Seems ridiculous if you ask me.  And I'm sure there are some extreme circumstances but for the most part, having worked in education for 13 years and knowing good parents from bad, most "good" parents who plan a move do so without disrupting their kids schooling.  They do it during a break and certainly NOT with 2 weeks left in the year. This is a move typical of "bad" parents...you know...those who can't stay in one place too long because they get evicted. 

Why am I bitching about this?  Well apparently there's a new girl who has enrolled at the high school but, she'll be headed to the career center next year.  So now everyone is wondering whose caseload she'll be on because typically, students going to the career center have their IEP done before going - even if it isn't up for review.  The reason for this?  The teachers don't know these kids (oh, boo hoo).  How are the career center people supposed to write an IEP for a student they don't know?  Do you begin to see my annoyance here?  And it isn't like we know the new freshmen when we get them from the junior high but we manage to write many an IEP in September...when they are actually DUE! I call bullshit on this one.

I know I'm putting the cart before the horse here but you just KNOW this is going to be a to-do this week.  And here's a question:  Why is Lil emailing everyone about this rather than the special ed (I accidentally typed special "dead"...yowza) department head? Annoying.  Lil asked, I think she should get new girl on her caseload for two weeks...write the IEP herself since she's so worried about it.

Okay - I don't know why I care about all this.  I guess I just like to have something to bitch about...and Jim hasn't annoyed me (yet) today.  Hee hee.  Poor Jim (there I said it for all you bleeding hearts out there). Well, I spoke too soon...he just burped right in my ear. Ha!
