Of course I believe these two are BOTH too old and shouldn't be running for office but this is what we've been dealt. Regardless though, I trust Biden to do right for our country and I trust that trump will run us into the ground. His supposed plan of getting rid of the income tax in lieu of a universal tariff, according to any financial expert (not just those who hate trump) will once again send the economy into the shitter with the wealthiest profiting. Once again, he only has the rich benefitting. Beyond all that, however, I can't stomach a liar. I can't stomach a man who has clearly stated he wants revenge for the consequences meted out to him for the crimes he's committed. He wants to indict his political enemies. He's stated that he will put into place, people in the Justice Department that will do his bidding. I can't stomach a man who wants to take away our civil rights (look at his plan for homelessness), and don't get me started on his stance on abortion. He doesn't care about the life of the baby. He's not a Christian. He's a man who will do or say anything to get a vote. He's made no bones about that. He's stated it in his rallies. He's said, "I don't care about you. I just want your vote."
Things right now are really looking grim but not because of the economy. I understand that inflation isn't decreasing like we'd hoped but it is cooling since its peak. Unemployment is crazy low. Wages are going up and the market is thriving. Our country is looking grim because we CAN'T have trump back in office doing the kinds of things he did during his presidency. The vile hatred that he spread, continues to spread is not going to keep us strong. He turns neighbor against neighbor. He spreads lies so that we all distrust each other. He caused such divisiveness that the American flag has nearly turned into a Maga symbol rather than a symbol for freedom. I can't imagine what will happen if he returns to the White House and that scares me shitless.
I hope people will really listen to the lies trump tells and see that he doesn't care about Americans. He wants revenge. He wants power and he'll do anything to get it. He's not well. I understand that Biden's age is certainly showing and last night was not encouraging but his interests are pure. He's not out to destroy democracy in order to garner power for himself. He's not trying to take away individual freedoms. He's out to make this country stronger and fair and safe. He's out to help keep this country the greatest country in the world; a country that the world envies. But that envy doesn't stretch to a U.S. that has trump at the helm. When he was there before, the world was laughing at us and scratching their heads, wondering what we were thinking putting someone like that in office. I hope people see that and decide to vote for progress. We can't go back.
And that's a lot. I've got a headache now and just need to put this aside for now so I don't drive myself crazy.
Happy Birthday Mom!!! She's 86 today and doing well! Maggie is taking her out to lunch today and will give her the gifts we got her at the Bay this week. I'll call her in a bit.
Plans today: After I walk the boys, I'll mow the front yard and then I'm headed to the new Aldi up the road. I can't wait to see it! I'm so excited! Dinner tonight will be a spicy noodle thing. No other plans other than chilling. No real plans for the weekend except to get ready for our trip back up to the Bay on Sunday, coming home the following Saturday. I will take my computer to post but of course, that sometimes gets forgotten.
