Gettin' A Beatin'

As I came downstairs from my shower just now, Jim had "September" by Earth Wind and Fire playing. It was nice...had me dancing and getting me revved up for my Friday. Thanks Jim! (I know...he did something right!)

I don't know what's happening but Boo has been sitting next to me for the last several minutes trying to get my attention and beating me up with his paws in the meantime. He's had his breakfast. He's have his after-breakfast treat. He's had his after-momma-showers stick. He's gotten lots of loving and scratching. Ohhhhh! I know what it is. It's his brother who didn't come down for his stick which is now laying on the counter. Boo just hopped up on my lap, lifted his nose in the air, and then gazed at the counter where Scout's stick lays. He then looked at me and seemed to say with his eyes, "Mom!? If Scout isn't going to eat that I will! I'm withering away! Look at me! My belly barely sticks out anymore! Come on! It's Friday!"

All of this to say: Scout is STILL driving his momma crazy! He basically only eats once a day anymore. I don't know what's happening! I try to sweeten it up but he's just not interested. I know he goes through these little phases every now and then but I hate it. And of course he isn't starving himself but I think I'll stop on the way home today and get him a little something special for dinner. Maybe some canned Blue Buffalo or some such shit.

BTW - the safety training we had yesterday wasn't too terribly bad. It didn't take the whole time which was what was going to piss me off the most. We "practiced" two scenarios. The first, we had a shooter (who had a mack daddy Nerf machine gun) who came into our room and our job was to "hide and hope". Unfortunately I was in direct line of the classroom door. However, I managed to get to the back of the room and only get hit by stray bullets in the arm before the shooter ran out of "bullets".

The second scenario had all of the "students" armed with stuff to throw (nerf balls in this case). When the shooter opened the door we were to beam him. I managed to throw a ball that knocked our shooters glasses off his head but as I was running away, I got shot in the head. The aftermath, once everything was over, had me kind of reeling. I mean, sure, throwing things at the shooter made it impossible for him to enter the classroom but I still got it in the head. In the end, these scenarios are really kind of pointless if we aren't training the kids. I'll certainly be talking to the kids about the importance of fighting with whatever they have at hand if they can.

Ooh! So excited! The Great British Bake Off is not too far off. They've started posting on Instagram about the new host (Alison Hammond) and I can't wait!!! I don't know her but that's okay. I'm sure she'll be great.

In other news, it's finally the weekend. The week wasn't bad and didn't go too slowly. Today should be an easy day so that's good. The only plan I have this weekend so far is to go to Raeburn to swim on Sunday.

Okay well, I'm running a bit behind but I don't care. I'll still get to school in plenty of time. Oh, and dinner tonight: I'm not cooking and Jim wants Mexican so we'll go to El Picante. Yummy!

K - happy Friday! Woot! Later!
