I hate waking up on a Monday morning to this type of email from a parent:
I would like to schedule a meeting as soon as possible to talk about concerns we have about about how my son is being treated and how he's being spoken to in the classroom, as well as concerns about the curriculum.
First of all, I'm pretty sure this parent doesn't have custody of her son. He lives with grandma and she's the one with whom I've had contact. Beyond that, however, this is a kid who is a nervous wreck and who, I think, has had his hand held at every step of his schooling. He's got a lot more skills than I think his grandmother and apparently now his mother thinks he has. He's pretty low but not so low that he should be in the MH classroom which is where his grandmother wants him. (not appropriate). He's a really sweet kid but I think his nerves and lack of confidence cause him to "read the room" incorrectly. I've been working with him a LOT one-on-one during GI on reading and math and who knows if that's what his mother is talking about. I've never had an issue with this kid, he readily comes to me for help and he's even come in to tell me about exciting things outside the classroom that have happened (he was asked to homecoming). I guess I'll call grandma today and see what's up.The weekend was good but I got sick on Saturday. I suddenly developed a sore throat and my nose and head got all schnootzie. I took a Covid test but it was negative. I was pretty sure it wasn't Covid but you never know. I'm feeling better now, my sore throat is gone and I'm not so stuffy but now I have a little cough. No big deal...I'll be fine.
Saturday Jim and I went out to eat at Teak in Loveland. It's a Thai restaurant that I was psyched to go to. The original one was in Mt. Adams and it'd been years since we'd been. It was okay. Actually, the sushi was awesome and our cocktails were yummy. I got pad Thai with tofu for my main course and though it was tasty, I've had better. Jim said the same about his meal. I will say that the prices were really reasonable which surprised me. I'll certainly return but try something else next time.
It was while we were out to dinner that I started feeling bad so we stopped on our way home for medicine and Sunday I just hung out on the couch trying to feel better. The Bengals game didn't help, that's for sure.
Should be an easy week. I'm taking a professional day on Thursday and calling in sick on Friday. A three-day week should be manageable.
Not sure what's for dinner. I'm sending Jim to Aldi since he's working in Deerfield. He couldn't find the turkey keilbasa last time he went so I'm going to have him try again. I'm sure it's there...he just needs to open his eyes. If he brings it home, I'll make a one-sheet pan dinner with potatoes and probably broccoli.
K - best motor. Happy Monday! Later!Co
