Expect A Long Week

Yesterday was brutal for a number of reasons. Mainly because though there were finally kids in the building, they were so few and far between that it was disturbing; spooky and just not right. I had to go out into the hallway during the lunch bell to see if there was anyone actually in the building. I had a smattering of kids in my classes (only 1 kid 1st, 3rd and 5th) and it truly sucked. This year is just going to be so weird and I'm trying to wrap my head around it and remind myself that "this too shall pass" but days like yesterday are just depressing! And I still don't know how I'm going to teach in-person and remotely when we start on Tuesday next week. Ugh! But I'm resilient and I'll get through this and truthfully, I'm the least important person in this scenario! More and more, I feel so bad for these kids.

For example - yesterday a new kid came who is new to the district. He's got no friends and basically had to walk around by himself all day. I told him that once school started and he was in class with more kids, things would get better. I just don't want him to get discouraged! Blows.

Needless to say, after that shit day, I felt the need to partake in a glass of wine. Well, 2 glasses but that's alright. But I didn't have dessert so that makes it all a wash.

What else? I'm looking forward to hopefully going to PIB in October. Jim and I are going to go up, just the two of us, and take the boys for the first time. I'm assuming things won't be underway with the reno which sucks but the bright side is that Jim and I can get a last weekend in at the Bay. I'm hoping the boys love it and that the ride up with them goes smoothly.

And that's all I've got. Guess I'll go finish getting ready. Happy Tuesday! Later! Oh, stay healthy.
