You know you make plans and then you break plans. Originally, I had taken today off to get my car repaired. And then Jim happened. He’s just not getting better and his fever is continuing and so the CNP wants to see Jim this morning. Which means I’ll be canceling my car repair and hopefully rescheduling for Monday. I say Monday because that is a day I basically have nothing to do at school. It’s exam week and the first exam block is my plan period; the second is one of my Guided Interventions (study hall) and most of my kids won’t be there...and if they are, I’ll just have them sent to the gen ed study hall. What are you going to do?
So, Jim and I will head to the doc office for a 9 AM “appointment”. I’m hoping they take blood and see that he’s battling a virus of some sort and that it will work itself out. I’m hoping this isn’t going to be the norm when he gets his infusions but if it is, we’ll deal with it. The biggest problem is he’s EXHAUSTED but barely sleeping. He gets about 2 hours of sleep at a time which in itself is tough to take for days on end. I feel so bad for him especially considering I’m such a terrible nurse! I’m trying to be comforting and empathetic but we all know that my go-to mentality is “suck-it-up-and-quit-being-a-puss!” I’ll say it for everyone...Poor Jim!
Regardless of all of this, I have to say, I’m not worried. Not like I was with his other doctor. Jill, the CNP, has been amazing in responding to Jim’s texts and being attentive. I have total trust that she cares and wouldn’t blow us off. It’s a new and foreign feeling but one we could certainly get used to. Fighting cancer takes everything you’ve got and having to worry if your caregivers give a shit isn’t a great booster.
Okay well, that’s all I’ve got. I need to get a move on and shower and get ready to fight crap traffic. Hopefully by 8:00ish, it won’t be too terrible and we’ll go the back roads anyway. Happy Wednesday! I’ll let you all know what we find out. Later!
