Getting There

Finally going to get my car fixed today...I hope. And I hope it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I can’t imagine it will if it’s just the emergency brake but we’ll see.

So the weekend was good...relaxing. We didn’t do much although we did go out Saturday night for hibachi. Jim hadn’t been out and about (except to the doctor) since last Tuesday so he was a bit stir crazy. It was nice to go out for dinner and come back home to a nice fire and then bed. Sunday Anne and Max came over to hang with the pups and watch the shit show on TV (Bengals game). The boys were very happy to see them and thankfully Boo wasn’t sad when they left like last time. I think they’re getting the fact that this is now their home. I know they’re happy for the stability. Plus, think about all the people that love them.

I do have a new obsession: The Crown on Netflix. So good. Highly recommended to all (5 readers, two of whom I know watch already).

Jim is slowly getting back to normal. He still has an off and on fever which is frustrating but it really doesn’t get above 100 so that’s doable. No diarrhea and his extreme exhaustion hasn’t returned. He is frustrated that he can’t seem to sleep for 8 hours at a time but I told him to be patient...it will happen. He sent a text to his boss that he was ready to go back to work but his boss has yet to give him a job. Hopefully that will happen because Jimmy needs to get out there and resume normalcy.

Puppy news: I decided on Saturday that we needed to work to train the puppies to sleep through the night (I think Jim getting up and down messed them up and they were waking up and whining at all hours.) So, I had Jim sleep in the guest bedroom on Saturday and I closed the bedroom door so they wouldn’t hear Jim get up and down. They didn’t do well (whining at 2:30, 3:30, 4:15) but I never got up or gave them more attention then a firm, “NO!” The last time I did that (4:15) I made the decision that I’d get up to feed them around 5:00. Well, I fell asleep as did the pups and when I looked at the clock again, it was 5:42. Last night, the puppies did really well. We put them to bed at 8:30 and they didn’t make a peep all night. Jim went downstairs around 2:00 so I’m sure that helped but when I started stirring around 5:15, they finally let out a couple whines. Works for me and I’m hoping it just gets better.

And that’s about all I’ve got. I’m getting my car fixed at 8:00 and hopefully it won’t take too terribly long to fix. If all goes well, I’ll head into school afterward to have lunch. It’s our annual staff lunch and Olive Garden is being brought in. Yummy.
