Going into my physical therapy yesterday, I was skeptical. I've done this before, with my right shoulder, and it was a waste of my time. I thought dragging my ass into the facility for a 1/2 hour of stupid arm lifts and awkward moves that I know I'd do wrong would culminate in me being about $200 poorer (co-pay) and still in pain. Well, lo and behold (knock on wood, time will tell and all that jazz), my shoulder feels better than it has in a LONG time. I thought for sure that doing the exercises yesterday, the therapist would either A) hurt me or B) hurt me. In reality, the therapist I was given explained quite thoroughly what the focus would be in my therapy (strengthening the area around my labrum and learning to use different parts of my shoulder to compensate for what I couldn't do) and proceeded to EASE me in. Yesterday consisted mostly of stretching. It didn't hurt, felt good to have that stretch and have someone with knowledge push me that far. She did want me to do one exercise that I couldn't do without pain and so she immediately stopped that one. I asked her if I should worry about dislocation because there's been one or two times when I thought I was about to do just that. She said she had seen my MRI and there were one or two pics that showed my shoulder slightly out of balance or coming out of it's socket (she put it in different words) YOWZA! Scares me.
I'll do the PT for about 4 weeks and then reassess. At this point, and from the stories I've heard about labrum surgery this is as far as I'm going with my shoulder. I've heard better to live with the pain than deal with the recovery so there you go.
Oh, 2-hour delay for Muwee! Woot! It's -2 degrees in Cincinnati but areas around are all the way down to -17. UGH!
When I was talking to the kids yesterday about our unexpected week off one of the kids asked why we were really off last Thursday and Friday (wind chill advisory). I pointed to his classmate sitting two seats over in a t-shirt and shorts and said, "That's why." Kids are so stupid and I don't understand why parents let them out of the house like that in weather like this.
Okay...what else. Nothing. I'll probably go into school a bit early today and get some things done. I have an IEP next Monday and got most of it complete yesterday but just want to make the final tweaks.
Well, best mosey. Later!
