Much The Same

The news about Dad is much the same as yesterday. He's continuing to hold on, not eating, and not communicating much. It seemed yesterday that he didn't want to close his eyes so much of the time we were there, he was staring at the ceiling. (I wonder what he's seeing, if anything.) I tried to comfort him by holding his hand and talking to him, telling him that he was surrounded by love and he shouldn't be scared and that peace was waiting for him. His pain meds have been upped a bit but there's still room for an increase. I hope he's not in pain. He doesn't seem to be. At this point, the hospice nurse should be in every day. After his/her visit later, I'll be interested to hear what the consensus is. He really hasn't eaten anything since Tuesday.

I actually slept last night, which surprised me. I think my brain was tired. I tried to stay up late in order to sleep a little better and I think that helped. I watched most of the Harris/Walz interview but started nodding off just before 10:00. I only woke up once and slept until the boys woke me up right before 6:00.

My plans for the day are much the same as yesterday. After finishing this, I'll go get on the elliptical. I'd walk the boys but it's still pretty dark out there. Once the sun comes up a bit, I'll walk, then shower and head to Raeburn for a few hours.

Jim and Harry
Jim's continuing to have fun in San Fran. We talked a bit yesterday and all I can say is, it's a good thing I'm not there. Fritz's antics (Jim's brother) would send me over the edge and I would NOT be able to hold my tongue. He's just so selfish and unless something affects him directly he doesn't listen, doesn't care, doesn't accommodate. Everything is on his timeline without regard for anyone else. Fritz knows good and well that Jim isn't there to just spend time with him. Jim's friend Les is just as important in regard to Jim's time but Fritz does not respect that. In fact, he tried to ignore Jim's plans of staying with Les for a couple days by monopolizing all of Jim's time and making plans without consulting Jimmy. Thankfully, Jim does well maintaining his cool and putting the kibosh on Fritz. But again, it's a good thing I'm not there.

The one pic that seemed to sum up Jim's day yesterday was the one shown. This is the "office dog" at Fritz's office. I promised I wouldn't show Boo or Scout this pic. They would NOT be okay with Jim cheating on them.

Okay, well, time to get a move on. The sun is up enough I think to walk the dogs. I'd like to get that out of the way ASAP before the temps get too crazy. Hopefully those will break by Sunday. I'm so over this heat. Happy Friday! Happy weekend. Later!
