Here We Go!!! (UPDATE)

Here they come...well, half of them. Freshmen and seniors will be in the building today but really, I'll only see the freshmen. Seniors will be having meetings all morning and then a cookout in the afternoon. Freshmen will have not quite 1/2 hour classes, then their lunch bell, then meetings in the afternoon, which means by 12:20, I'm free of kids 6th period and other than 3rd bell, I have about 2 kids in each bell. Pretty easy day. Tomorrow will be the actual first day of school for all high school students. That being said, I won't be teaching anything during these two days but rather getting to know my freshmen and then reiterating/introducing my rules. 

Speaking of rules, I'll be introducing a new cell phone policy this year. Since our administration won't step up and be leaders, the staff has decided to take it upon themselves to put a plan in place. I'm going to get a cell phone cubby and while students are working (with some exceptions) their phones must be in the cubby. In the past I've just had students stow them in their bags but this never works. They always end up with them in their laps or pockets or whatever. Additionally, there will be NO earbuds allowed. I can't stand looking at a student while I'm speaking to them and see they have earbuds in. You know most of what I'm saying (if not all) is being drowned out by whatever is playing in their ear. So disrespectful and rude. 

Yesterday was very productive. I got everything done that needed to be done. I still have a few things on my list but I'll finish these things today or tomorrow. 

Dinner: I think I'll do a bang bang chicken skewer thing with roasted zucchini and potatoes (fries or oven roasted). I made the Costco stuffed peppers last night and they were scrumptious. I will certainly buy those again. They come in pans of 6, which I froze, and then just took two out for me and Jim. 

Not much else to talk about...so I guess I'll get a move on. BTW - the wake up time of 4:20 seems to be a good one. Also, brining my computer home in order to post makes my morning (so far) go so much more smoothly. I just need to remember to A) bring it home every day and B) remember to take it back to work every day. I'm sure once this becomes routine, it won't be an issue.

UPDATE: I just looked online to see if there was a release date for GBBO season 15 and guess what!? SEPTEMBER 24TH!!! I'm about to cry! I'm so excited! YAY!!! K...just had to share.
