I actually went to and got through Open House last night! I didn't flake out and though I may have skedaddled a few minutes early, I was there to greet the parents that showed up. So yes, I had about 5 parents show up which might actually be a record. They were sprinkled through the night but by about 7:30, I was pacing around watching the clock, ready to go. I was home by 8:15 and after some morning prep, I was in bed, sipping tea by about 8:30.
I didn't go to sleep right away because I was watching the DNC. Rumors were running rampant about a "special guest" appearing last night and of course the rumors settled on Beyonce and Taylor Swift. I admit I fell for the ruse and believed, most likely that the guest was going to be Beyonce. Which meant that I needed to record the event because no way would I be able to stay up that late. In the end, neither showed. The convention was electric regardless though and I'm glad I recorded it because I look forward to watching Kamala's acceptance speech for the nomination.
I have to say, watching the convention last night really got me excited for the hope and joyfulness that has reentered our country. I'm excited for the future of this country and for the people who have been stepped on lately (women, minorities, disabled) to be represented by someone who doesn't look at their bank account to decide if they're worthy. I'm excited to see the divisiveness to end and for people from both sides of the aisle finally be free from the influence of that stupid fuck who has held our country up for the last several months. 75days people!I'm also excited for the weekend! This week went by pretty steadily but I'm still tired and ready to sleep in tomorrow. Jim has to work Saturday which means I'll be doing a deep clean of the house. No other real plans for the weekend but I'm sure I'll head over to Raeburn to see Dad. Becky texted yesterday to say the home health care person started and Dad seems to really like her. It's a relief for Becky that she has a few hours each day to deal with everyday life.
Dinner tonight: I think I'll probably grill either burgers or chicken or maybe chicken burgers! I'll probably head to the grocery during my plan period because I need a few things.
And that's all I've got. Happy Friday! Happy weekend. Later!
